Ralphie was loved. He had a home for 8-9 yrs. He had a family, until all that changed. His human mom died & a “family member” took him & his sister in. He went from a stable life to an abusive one. He had food withheld from him & was thrown aside. He watched family members feed the other dogs in the home, but to punish the family member who brought them home, they were starved. A short time after, Ralphie was dumped on a back road in a community. Ralphie is now with us...and we promise him an amazing forever home for his golden years. Another day = another holiday group saved! Another dedicated volunteer who also helps at CACC, Chicagos largest shelter, took her turn on saving some smalls. We’ve added 5 new pups from cacc yesterday and today who are having their new chances at life. Welcome to wags, sweet babies!

A true freedom ride! Escorted out by cart, as if she’s a 👑 in her carriage (which, of course, she is!). Naomi truly is terrified to move, but is so patient with all around her. 💕 you’re safe love.

Our annual holiday pull focuses heavily on the dogs who need us most. The dogs that hit our mission to the core. The harder to adopt. The seniors. The medical. Today was no different as we did our second and third stops, but what we didn’t expect was to meet Naomi. Naomi is a shar pei mix that was a stray picked up by the police. After weeks at animal control and no one claiming her, we luckily walked in to her today. Naomi, meaning gentle, is terrified. She shakes and cowers, but never lifts a lip or makes a sound. She slowly pushes her nose up looking in interest but then snuggles back into a safe space. Naomi has cherry eyes in both eyes which will require surgical correction. We don’t know how much pain this is causing but it can’t be helping. This sweet love won’t walk on a leash. In fact, she was lifted in a dog bed onto a cart to be wheeled to our car for transport. We can’t wait to watch her transformation and help her find safety comfort in humans again. Welcome to wags, sweet Naomi!
