This is a video of a dog I have on the farm that Joey Leigh (Arete Canine ) and I are working together for personal protection. He is by far the nicest and most versatile dutchie I've had my hands on. I videoed this to show to Joey because he's actually done this before but I assumed it was a fluke. It's a clip of him helping me keep a hen out of a part of woods she's laid in before. He'd make a good farm help here with these birds that I do have to chase sometimes. Lol!

It’s with a grieving heart that we say goodbye to Jorlan “JJ” de Loucyn R3. J transitioned this morning and left us with unforgettable & irreplaceable memories. For now will reminisce on his time on the ring field and in our lives. I leave you with this video I’ve been watching back to back that was created for his retirement celebration but instead today it is to commemorate & celebrate his life. J was one helluva dog and will be truly missed ✨. -Melissa

Update on our B'Kaizen: We're happy to report he was selected as a Tier 1 dog for SOF! This litter proved itself well, despite my doubts about them. We want to thank Leos Drbohlav of True Canine International again for taking on Kaizen and finding him employment. We also thank Naoma Doriguzzi for raising him and doing a great job, and Barry Walton for allowing us to co-own Venta. We're very proud of this guy and he wears the Ekon name well!

Good day to all extended Ekon family. We're happy to announce that our Kaizen of Ekon Kennels has been placed with Leos Drbohlav of True Canine International (TCI), where he'll be worked to be placed in law enforcement. Leos spoke highly of Kaizen during his evaluation, and we're more than pleased to hear the great feedback. Kaizen is a son of our Jorlan x Venta litter and was raised by Naoma. She did a fantastic job and gave him a great home. We thank Leos for giving Kaizen the opportunity, and we know he's in good hands. We will update everyone with his progress and outcome in the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone for your support and love!

It's been almost 14 years since I've taught tracking to a dog. Decided to dip my feet back in it with Yenna. This is her 6th session. Track length is around 30ish yards. This was done a couple days ago. We tracked this morning and will be posting that one in a day or so. You'll probably have to zoom in on the first part of the track.

First time seeing this pipe and on a tie out. One of the the traits I look for in my pup/dogs is the desire or willingness to bite anything. She's constantly trying to bite something so I said, WTH! Let's see if you'll bite copper.

Another addition to Ekon Kennels! I've waited 2 years to get this blood. She's out of a breeding done 4 times(MismoxQuin), with a high rate of success in LE. I want to thank her breeder Jonathan Merry of Merry K9 Services, LLC for giving us the opportunity to get her. It was an absolute pleasure meeting and talking with Jonathan. Very cool and super honest guy. Also a special shout out to Joe McCoy for helping make the contact and giving honest advice on his experience with her siblings. Joe has been a huge help throughout these couple years. We haven't named her yet, so we'll post an update when it's decided. Just a short introduction with a more detailed post soon.

This post is a little different than our normal content. We have a client we'd like to spotlight! We're extremely, extremely proud of Lucas’s progress! As a novice trainer, he has made great strides with his pet dog, Artemis, that required building to get to where he is now. With guidance, he put in a lot of work to build engagement and toy play with Artemis. Here's a short clip of him with his young male show line German Shepherd that he shared with us yesterday. It's been a while since we've posted but starting back with this news is definitely worth it. We would like to introduce you to our new and official Ekon Kennels logo! Waiting on this to be designed was as exciting as waiting on a new puppy. We want to thank DJ Artistic Designs for helping us bring it to life. It was a pleasure from start to finish. We asked for these two design colors as they fit for both a male and female taste. My wife loves purple, so I wanted a color scheme that I felt she'd appreciate. This design has personal value and attachments. Using JJ as our logo staple was the least I could do for all he's given me and what we've accomplished together. Thanks to everyone for your support and love. We'll be adding more videos as we get into the new year.

Ekon has another success from our breeding with Jorlan De Loucyn X Venta Agoge Acker litter. Our very own Nakia has also found employment with our government! We are super proud of her and her sister! Special thanks to Arete Canine , Joey & Heather Leigh, as well as their team for taking on our girls and helping them with successful employment with our government. We truly appreciate their help and look forward to much more in the future!

Ekon Kennels achieved a milestone! Our very own A'Jorlana(JoJo), is off to do great things. She's our very first malinois produced and raised here at Ekon. We're super proud of her and hope she does great with her new job and handler. We would like to thank Joey and Heather Leigh of Arete Canine , as well as their team for making this possible! I do honestly love this dog! No matter what I have complained about him to friends. But there has been many, many times I've hated him too. Just a battle of wills between us mostly. He's by no means perfect but I can assure anyone that he's as solid as they come. Both mentally and physically.

We have one of our young males (Jorlan X Venta) available out of our last litter (we were holding back as a detection prospect). He does not possess the environmental nerves we're looking for. However, he's not a nerve bag. Struggles with surfaces mostly. Will need a patient handler, as he's slower maturing. Good toy, possession and food motivation. His bite is full but can be soft on initial grips. Will change with age and more exposure. ( We did not put bite foundation on him beyond a few tie outs). Has lots of energy and and stamina. Coming up on 11 months and weighs around 50 pounds, possibly a couple more. He's sensitive to corrections but can bounce back fairly well. If interested, please pm me for further details. Not a fit for families or someone needing an easy to going dog. Thanks!

Who ain't got no bi***es? Lol

Not bad for my first edited video! This is me spending time with all the girls yesterday. We did a simple pre-hide and hunt drill, (toy was buried under leaves or pinestraw). These girls are moving with purpose and focus. They're most definitely enjoying the hunt game. Our next learning phase will be interesting for both myself and these ladies! Hope you enjoy!
