Let’s find Smokey a home! A $200 adoption fee may seem like a lot, but it’s such a steal for what they are providing!! Smokey was so sweet in the shop imagine how happy he’d be with a loving home!! Please share!!
Meet Smokey! This adorable little schnauzer/yorkie(?) mix was picked up by our local animal control a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, his family never came to reclaim him.
He was a matted up mess, but Regina and her crew at Ritzy Rascal gave him a new 'do that had to have made him feel a million times better!
Smokey appears to be around 4 years old. He's about 14 pounds at the most. He will go tomorrow to be neutered. We are looking for a local adopter (local to Plainview/HC/Olton) for him. Why, you ask? Well, unfortunately, since his previous family didn't keep him on heartworm prevention, he is heartworm positive.
Heartworms are treatable, but it's a long process. We can't send him to our adopters in the PNW or NE until he tests negative, which would be several months from now. He doesn't need to spend the upcoming winter months at our rescue. We want him to be in his forever home asap. We will help pay for the heartworm treatment. There are a couple of different options we can take.
If you're interested in adopting Smokey, please fill out our application below. His $200 adoption fee includes his neuter, all vaccinations, registered microchip, 4DX, current monthly prevention for flea/tick, and again, we'll pay for his heartworm treatment.
Please understand that we already know that we will likely receive many apps for him and we will be looking for the best fit...not just the first applicant. We need the adopter to live close enough to Plainview that they can get him to his treatments when needed.
