UPDATE 3: BOTH WAITLISTS ARE NOW FULL!

UPDATE 2: Our waitlists are now full! We will not be able to sign up any additional animals. We’re excited to be able to get these animals spayed/neutered within our community!

UPDATE: We had an overwhelming response, and have filled all spots and are now filling a WAITLIST! Being on the waitlist does NOT guarantee a spot.

*Attention: We have a small office staff, and we will get to everyone's calls as quickly as possible! You may have to keep calling back or be on hold for a few minutes. Thank you so much for your patience!*

We're partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation for the next Operation Fix the Future! This is a FREE spay/neuter clinic.

We will be transporting cats and dogs to the event in Grand Rapids on July 1st and July 2nd, and animals will be dropped off and picked up herein South Haven at Al-Van.

Space is limited, so please give us a call at (269)637-5062 or stop by the adoption center to get signed up and for more information. You are encouraged to bring trapped feral cats as well! For this clinic, Bissell requires the dogs to be under 75 lbs, and cats should be at least 8 weeks old and 2 lbs.

All dogs must be leashed, and all cats must be in a carrier or live trap. (Some restrictions apply, call for more information)

It is Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! Each day I will be introducing you to one of our fabulous receptionists. Feel free to let them know you appreciate them as much as we do! 😄

Last up (but not least) is Alicia- or as we like to call her- 2Sam. I think most people think her name is actually Sam (or Samantha) now because of it... so let me set the record straight- her name is actually Alicia 😂! 2Sam (I mean Alicia! 😉) has been with us at the clinic for a few years now. Alicia is a very kind and caring individual. When she answers your phone call, she is going to put you on hold most of the time- just to make sure she talks to me (the LVT), Tara (the Practice Manager), or a Dr- so that she can give you the best and up to date answers to your questions about your pets. It's important to her that your questions get answered correctly-and that we see your pets as soon as possible if needed! She really does have the best intentions for your furbabies- which is a great quality for a receptionist to have.

Alicia is a wonderful mom to two (human kids)- Brystal and Cayson (who just turned 1!) She also has 3 adorable large dogs- Draco, Annie, and Apollo, as well as a fiancee... AND SHE'S ALSO GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEK IN VEGAS! 😱 So make sure you wish her well and say congratulations when see her!

2Sam... don't have TOO much fun and forget about us in Vegas, ok?! 😉 We're gonna need you back Wednesday...

It is Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! Each day I will be introducing you to one of our fabulous receptionists. Feel free to let them know you appreciate them as much as we do! 😄

Becky is up next. She has been with us at the clinic for a little over a decade now. You probably won't see her much up front- we try to keep her in the back because... well, she's Becky 😂! (IYKYK) She does manage to make it up there sometimes, though. Usually it's because she discovered there is either a French or English Bulldog up there and she just HAS to see it! She is always sure to get her cuddle on with them whenever possible- as well as feed them hundreds of treats! All kidding aside, though- we love Becky. She wears her enormous heart on her sleeve. She is always game to assist a fellow coworker when they need help, and she would do ANYTHING for any one of us. We affectionately call her Grandma Becky when we need her to console a patient for us. She has the special ability to not only comfort- but also to cuddle the patients a little extra after waking up from anesthesia. 🥰 (Sometimes she even plays them some soothing music as well!) She really has a talent for getting them to relax and fall back asleep. Maybe it's because she falls asleep with them...? 🤔 (JUST KIDDING!)

Becky is also a wonderful mother to 3 kids (ok, adults now) and the fun, crazy grandmother to 5 grandkids. She had a small zoo at home- including several felines (that live inside) as well as a few strays (that live outside)- along with two... lively... dogs- a Frenchie named Cash and a Golden Reteiever mix named Anna.

In her free time she likes to feed the squirrels. Most recently, fruit.

Today it's Tara's turn. Everyone knows Tara- she's our fearless leader- I mean- the Practice Manager. She has worked at Companion now for darn near 20 years (no joke😱)! She's the OG of OGs (receptionist- wise). So when I say she can- and does- jump in and help anywhere needed, I mean it! She can do any job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back (and probably even while only using one leg) and is therefore instrumental to keeping the business running smoothly. We simply couldn't run the clinic without her! She does not get nearly enough credit for how much she does for us (as employees) AND the business itself and how vital she is to our team. So, Tara- just know- WE SEE YOU AND WE LOVE YOU, boss lady 🥰! (Although I might be a little biased- you are my work wife and partner in crime, after all... 🤔).

NAH. It's the truth. YOU DA REAL MVP, MEATBALL!

Lets see... what else? She has two fantastic (human) kiddos, and one furry feline- Bootsie. She is an amazing part-time mom to one of our clinic cats, too- Walter. She is also a giant Michigan State fan, as well. (GO SPARTANS!)

It's Rachel's turn! Rachel is our Assistant Manager and also one of our OG receptionists. She has been working at Companion for about a decade now! 😱 She currently works part time because she is an incredible- yet very busy- new Mom to one of our favorite little boys- Barrett! We all love when when we get our weekly visit from her little man 😍! Rachel is one of the most kind, caring, loyal, compassionate, and patient people I have ever met. She would give you the shirt off her back of you needed it. We miss having her full time at the clinic- she is the true definition of a team player. She will help anyone with anything- most of the time without even having to ask! We also miss her cooking and baking- she is an excellent chef- but we get that shes a little busy right now being a mom 😉.

Besides her human child- Barrett (did I mention he was adorable? Because he is!)- she has one precious little beagle named Lucy and two of our favorite "clinic rescue" cats- Lewis and Gilbert. I could wax on poetically about all Rachel's fabulous qualities as a human, but suffice it to say- she's one of our favorite people!

Jamie is up next. She is the newest member of the Companion receptionist crew, so if you havent met her yet, please say hello! Jamie joined us in August from another clinic where she was also a receptionist, so she's not new to the vet world (just new to us). She's fitting in here great so far. She has excellent communication skills when it comes to clients and has the ability to diffuse difficult and or emotional situations when needed with ease. She is a calming presence in tough situations and is a very supportive and thoughtful person. She is genuine, caring, and kind- not only to two-legged individuals, but also four-legged as well. I don't think she has met a cat, dog, or client she doesn't like yet! 😉

She is a cat mom to 2 fantastic felines- Alfie and Louie. She is also rather fond of Benny (one of our two clinic cats)- but who can blame her? (He IS rather fabulous.)

The Island City Festival kicks off today!! It will run June 8th - June 10th starting at 2pm. Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather in downtown Plainwell! That being said there will be heavy traffic in the downtown area as well as lots of pedestrians. Please allow yourself extra time when coming to your appointment over the next few days and as always watch out for pedestrians.
