🎆 Fireworks can be stressful! Create a calm, quiet space for your pet to relax.
🐾 Make sure their tags or microchip info is up-to-date, just in case.

❤🐾This Happy and Sweet Lab is Ace! 🐕❤

Ace's mom brought him in to see us because she had discovered that he had eaten chocolate. We were bale to give Ace an injection to try and help induce vomiting to try and get the chocolate that he had eaten out of his system. We were able to get majority of the chocolate that Ace had eaten out of his system.

We also gave Ace an injection to stop his vomiting, and administered subcutaneous fluids to try and help prevent further absorption of any chocolate that we were not able to retrieve.

Ace's mom let us know that Ace has not shown any symptoms and that he seems to be his normal self! Ace was such a sweet, happy, and brave boy for his visit with us! Thank you for trusting us with Ace's care!💙🐾

🐾 Meet Creed, a very adorable Weimaraner puppy! 🐶

Creed came in recently with some concerning symptoms — he was more tired than usual and unsteady on his feet. His owners, being the wonderful caretakers that they are, brought him in to have him checked out.

After an exam from the doctor and with Creed's symptoms, it is suspected that Creed had unfortunately eaten something toxic to cause his symptoms. We gave Creed some supportive care that included subcutaneous fluids and medication for nausea and motion sickness.

Creed's owners sent us this great picture of him and let us know that he was doing much better and seemed to be back to his normal self. Thank you for trusting us to help care for Creed! 💙🐾

Pet Parents – The holidays are upon us. Are you ready for the unexpected? Here’s a quick list to have in mind for the week ahead.

Check your regular veterinarian’s hours so you know when they’re around and when you’ll need find alternative care.

Know that UrgentVet is open 12PM to 8PM on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Locate your nearest 24-hour emergency vet in case of a life-threatening condition.
If you’re boarding your pet, make sure the facility has the most updated contact and care information for your pet.

If you have guests staying with you, remind them to close doors and gates to keep pets safely inside. Put your contact info on your pet’s collar for an extra layer of caution. Finally, remind them of what pets can and can’t eat.

A little preparation now can help to make for a safe and happy time for all.

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

Ace came in because he was limping. After the doctor evaluated Ace, he was given a pain injection to try and provide him with some pain relief. Ace went home with additional pain medications and instructions for rest for the next few days. Ace was such a sweet and brave boy for his visit with us. Thank you for trusting us with Ace's care! 💙

Meet Bagel, this very sweet little kitten who came to see us after being adopted by his wonderful new family! 🐱💖 Unfortunately, Bagel started sneezing quite a bit and dealing with some congestion. Bagel was treated for an upper respiratory infection and went home with antibiotics and a medication to try help with his nasal congestion and inflammation. 🐾 When we called to check in on how Bagel was doing, his owner reported that he seemed to be doing better and sneezing less.

🐾 Meet Baxby, a very sweet Golden Retriever! 🐾

Baxby came to see us because he was feeling a bit under the weather with some stomach upset. But despite not feeling his best, he was such a happy and sweet boy during his visit!

We gave Baxby an injection to try and help with his nausea, we also administered subcutaneous fluids to try and avoid any possible dehydration. Thank you for trusting us with Baxby's care! 💙

🐾 Meet Teddy! 🐾

Teddy came to see us because he was scratching at his ear, and after performing an ear cytology, we discovered that he unfortunately had an ear infection.

We cleaned his ears and applied a special medication that will stay in his ears for the next 30 days to try and treat the infection. We also gave Teddy a pain and anti-inflammatory injection, along with a Cytopoint injection to try and help with suspected allergies.

Teddy went home with medications for pain and inflammation, plus an e-collar to try and help him recover more comfortably. 🐶💊 Thank you for trusting us with Teddy's care!

🐾 Meet Arlo, a very ADORABLE Golden Retriever! 🐾

Arlo came to visit us with a hot spot near his ear, and after performing an ear cytology, we discovered that he unfortunately had an ear infection.

We clipped the hair around the affected area, cleaned the area thoroughly, and sent Arlo home with antibiotics, steroids, a topical antibiotic spray, and an e-collar to try and help treat his symptoms and bring him some relief. 🐶 Thank you for trusting us with Arlo's care! 🧡

🐾 Meet Ellie! 🐾

This sweet girl came to see us with a swollen paw. After some quick x-rays, we discovered swelling on one of her toes—but thankfully there appeared to be no broken bones! We gave Ellie some pain relief injections to help ease her discomfort and sent her home with pain medications and antibiotics to try and assist with her recovery.

When we checked in, Ellie’s owner told us she’s feeling much better! We’re so happy to hear she seems to be on the mend.
