Every year, I share some holiday cheer and tips to keep your furry friends safe.
I recall a story from years ago when we were hosting a small 15-pound Terrier. The host was setting up her dining table as a buffet for her guests. Not expecting her little companion to reach any food that was pushed far back against the wall, she was shocked to return from the kitchen with a platter of turkey only to find that her guest dog had jumped onto a chair, climbed onto the table, and devoured all the asparagus meant for her guests.
The host was astonished for two reasons:
1. The little guy managed to climb onto the table, and
2. He ate all the asparagus. How many dogs do you know that love asparagus? Of course, he chose the most expensive vegetable!
So, a word of caution—keep cakes, cookies, chocolates, and other goodies well out of reach of your pup. A sudden trip to the ER can certainly ruin your holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
