Halloween is just around the corner, and I want to remind our Host Families and Facebook followers of some important safety tips. Drivers should be cautious, as children in costumes may forget to look for cars while crossing streets in their excitement. Always check your kids' treats for any tampering, especially homemade ones, as there are reports every year of children getting sick.

Regarding our pets, the ringing doorbell can cause anxiety, especially for those that bark at doorbells on a regular day. Open doors may lead to dogs running outside. Keep your pet in a safe room with a gate or closed door to prevent accidental escapes. Given our usually mild temperatures, it's safer to take a chair and your treats outside to wait for trick-or-treaters instead of opening the front door.

Finally, make sure all candy is kept out of reach of pets. It's surprising how even a small dog can leap up to grab something tempting from the table. While Halloween is a fun night for kids, safety is key.

Be sure to keep your dog’s vaccines up to date. There are a couple of very contagious viruses hanging around. Respiratory illnesses. Are highly contagious. Not all vets administer this vaccine on a regular basis. A good idea is to ask your vet if they see a need to vaccinate against this disease. Parvo is raising its head up. It is a regular vaccine given every 3 years. Please make certain you stay on a regular schedule of vaccines to keep your Best Friend healthy

Wer are looking for qualfied pet lovers to become Host Families. Here is our process:

Pet Sitting Process
We complete an initial phone interview to determine if ou would make a great pet sitter.

After the initial qualification we then conduct an in-home interview to fully understand your desire to host pets and determine if you meet our qualifications. During the in-home interview we will:

• Determine the type of pets you have owned or cared for previously
• Inspect your home for cleanliness, safety and layout to determine what pets would work best. (example: if you have lots of steps we would not give you a pet that is geriatric and would have a hard time going up and down)
• Check out your yard for security and safety.
• Determine the type of pet that is most compatible with your pet if you have pets of your own. (If you have an older pet, we would not want to have you care for a jumping, hyper puppy)
• Determine the type of pets you are most interested in caring for in your home. (Some of our hosts only want dogs while others only are interested in cats. If you are interested in caring for dogs, we will determine size, age, and any breed restrictions.)
During the in-home interview, you will be given the Pets Are Inn Host Family Guideline Manual that addresses any “What ifs” that may occur while you are caring for a pet.
After you are approved, we will place a pet in your home that we feel is a good match with you. You will be given instructions and notes from the owner’s interview with the medication, daily routines, foods and other important things their pet needs. Pets Are Inn will also take care of the transportation of the pets to and from the host families. Then you are finally ready to get started pet sitting where you can enjoy the companionship of a pet earn extra $$ while doing what you love. This is a great side business that fills a need of unconditional love.
