Meet adorable Mya. This beautiful, elegant Chihuahua/Minpin mix is just a ball of fun. We say ball because that is her very, VERY favorite toy. She will go run after it for as long as you’re willing to toss it. She has lots of happy puppy energy and loves to jump around. She will have her vet work completed in late April and will be available for adoption at that time. We are taking applications now.
Mya was found running as a stray in the Dallas area. She was thin, covered in fleas and had overgrown nails. She was not wearing a collar or tags. A Good Samaritan found her, scooped her up right before she dashed into a busy street, and kept her safe and a search began for her family. Unfortunately she was not microchipped and no owners were found. The family reached out to CRT to see if we could put her into a foster home, get her vet work completed and help her find a forever family. This puppy is full of joy and we are happy to help in her journey!
Mya gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home. She loves playing chase with them! The other dogs in her foster home are intrigued by Mya’s puppy enthusiasm. Mya also adores playing with toys. Her favorite are small tennis balls. She wants her foster parents to throw a ball so she can chase it, bring it back, and start the process over again. This girl says baseball season is here and she wants to help you get your arm into shape!
Mya loves playing in the backyard. She is intensely curious and adventurous. Mya LOVES exploring the backyard and running zoomies across the lawn. Note that Mya is small and therefore will always need her human nearby while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Mya). We also want to emphasize that your fence must be very secure. Mya is so tiny that she can easily slip under the smallest opening in a fence, so she will need to be in a home with a solid, wooden fenced yard. (No wrought iron or chain link fences). Mya’s forever family will want to have some type of security around the exit door to your home. Mya can be a door darter and may try to scoot out the front door to explore the neighborhood. She is unaware of dangers and could easily get hit by a car!
Mya adores her family. She is friendly and happy. She will follow you around so she does not miss out on any fun. Note she can be a bit of a tripping hazard, so her new family will need to be aware of this. Mya has such high puppy energy that she will spend a few minutes in your lap for love and affection and then it’s back to playing! She enjoys meeting new people and will be a star with all your visitors.
Our vet thinks Mya is about 6 months old. When we got her she was only 4.5 pounds, but she was thin. Our vet thinks her ideal weight is about 5 to 5.5 pounds, so we are slowly getting her to her healthy weight range. The good news is that she loves food. When it’s meal time, all you have to do is let her see her bowl and she is so happy she must jumps in the air! Mya is a lovely tri-color with long legs and perfect ears. We think she may have some min-pin in her (based on her coloring and long legs). She has a grin on her face most of the time.
Mya is very smart and she’s learning more and more every day. She is very good at going potty outside. At night Mya loves to curl up in her bed inside a crate and sleeps the whole night. She is nervous around a harness and leash, so we are slowing working with her on getting comfortable so we can begin to leash train her.
The ideal home for this sweet girl would be a high energy home with a secure wooden fence and big yard to run in … and plenty of tennis balls!! Being so high energy, Mya would also love to have another young dog to play and run around with (applications will not be considered where she would be an only dog). Due to her tiny size, we recommend a home with smaller dogs only (no large dogs). Mya needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days.) She would love to live with a work-at-home family as she enjoys activity around the house! There are no children in her foster home, but we believe she would do well with older, mature children (10 and older). With her high energy level, and her uncomfortable nature around a leash, Mya is not apartment appropriate.
Mya is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area and must be adopted within this area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
