Pingu (R) is loving life in his new home! It only took him about a day to adapt to his new surroundings and then quickly made himself at home! He had a blast over the holidays climbing the Christmas tree, loves cuddles with Luna (formerly Phantom from Second Chance), and has a great time playing with his kiddos! We are so happy for Pingu and his new family!

Hey everyone,

We have a beautiful meet and greet patio that was donated as a heartfelt memorial for two wonderful dogs, Maverick and Bentley. To keep this memorial, we need to obtain a permit from the city.

We are currently looking for someone who can help us by drawing up a site plan. If you have experience with City of Plano requirements or know someone who does, we would greatly appreciate your assistance.

I am the sweetest boy you'll ever meet! I love to curl up on people's chests and head butt until I get a million bazillion kisses. 🥰 I am very laid back, I just love to snuggle and cuddle. I love when people pick me up and my favorite place is in someone's arms. I get along with other cats, dog, and kids, pretty much everyone and everything. I love to explore and will probably make myself right at home in any environment.

Please know I am FIV positive, which means the only other cats I can share a home with are other FIV positive cats.

ADOPTED! 🎉 Hello! My name is Cockle, short for Cockleshell! 👅 I am a 1 year old, 14 pound, female, pug and chihuahua mix. I LOVE people and all the attention in the world! I love being petted and cuddled with, be it with people, or other dogs. I love a good snuggle buddy who I can give lots of kisses to. 😘 I walk well on a leash but also love having a sprint around the yard. I would love a family and I'd do really well with a family with kids but I'd do just as well in a home with a solo owner. As long as I have a loving human to cuddle and kiss, I'm happy. I love other dogs my size but can be a little sassy with bigger dogs. 🙃

If it's the right home, Pandora is super lovable and fun. She is very friendly and likes to be out where people are. If you pet her gently at first, she'll know she can trust you forever. 🖤 Pandora likes to follow people around and be near them and loves being picked up and cuddled if you let her warm up to you first.

ADOPTED! 🎉 Hi! My name is Bennett, I am a 2 year old, 9 pound, male, Dachshund mix. I'm a little guy, and I'm very shy when I first meet others. When I've warmed up to you, I love to cuddle up in a lap, be held and petted. There's only one thing better than curling up in my own little bed, and that's curling up on someone's lap. I like to spring up onto chairs, or the roof of a kennel, anywhere that lets me feel tall, including being held and carried. I would be an excellent gentle dog for a loving family, and would get on great with other dogs. Although, young children startle and can scare me.

I am prone to eye ulcers so it's important that I stay on antibiotic eye drops. I am a very affectionate cuddle bug. I can be shy and nervous in new situations but once I warm up, I want to be your best friend. I am loving and super sweet. I am obsessed with wand toys and will pant with excitement if you take one out.

We are closed for adoptions on Mondays but that won’t stop us from posting cute animals! 🥰 This is our sweet giant, Gideon! He’s been at Second Chance for a while now but he’s happy and hopeful that his forever family is coming soon. He’s a huge boy that’s perfect: he loves playing, he’s sweet, he loves kiddos, and he loves other doggies. This goofy pup LOVES playing ball and going on walkies too. It’s a pup-date on Honeydew! This cutie is doing really well adapting to her new family and her new home! She loves meeting new people and is about to start doggy training so that she can be the bestest girl. We are so happy to hear of this happy ending for this sweet pup. 🥰

It’s Sunday Funday and what is more fun than a PUPPY?! This is Artie, a 3 month old, male shepherd mix. This lil cutie is currently 10 pounds but is expected to grow up to 40 - 50 pounds. Artie is a playful and adorable little lad that sees a friend in anything, be them a human, dog or cat! He loves playing with toys and is an energetic pup that needs lots of play and attention so that he can grow up into a certified good boi.

Happy CATURDAY! 🐱 Our featured kitty is Wren, a beautiful domestic medium hair girlie that’s ready to be your bestie for the restie!

Wren is about 2 years old and is an absolute sweetheart! She’s a curious little adventurer that loves people and crinkle toys! This sweet girl will also “throw hands” and MMA wrestle your hands in the cutest ways. 🥰 Wren also likes other animals but (like a lot of us) she’s not really into being picked up.

Wondering how Meadow is doing after waiting so long to be adopted? Well, she is doing great!!! Meadow is very active and runs around the house at all times of the day/night and has a new love for boxes! We are so happy that our long term resident sassy gal is doing so well in her forever home with her new family! Congrats Meadow and to her new family. ❤️

Help us celebrate! 🥳 We had a great month of adoptions with 17 animals going home in December!

Dogs: Sunshine, Holly, Honeydew, Carter, Isabelle, Basil, Muffin, Rocket

Cats: Greenbean, Mario, Luigi, Dove, Egret, Pixie, Pingu, Pudding, Esmeralda

Along with the adoptions, and with your help, we were able to rescue 16 animals from euthanasia last month that were in local municipal shelters.

All of our animals are picked up from local municipal shelters where they face uncertain fates. None of this would be possible without your help, because we run entirely on donations!
