We absolutely do not understand why Marble has been at Second Chance for EIGHT MONTHS! 🥺 She is a delightful 1-year-old brown tabby with a personality as vibrant as her playful energy.

Marble is a sweet and friendly girl and is outgoing yet laid-back, making her the perfect mix of fun and chill. Marble loves to run, jump, and explore, bringing joy and life to any home she enters.

She is unique and has been diagnosed with urinary crystals, so she just needs to stay on special prescription food to stay healthy, but this doesn’t slow her down one bit!

Marble is SO ready to bring her loving spirit and playful antics to a forever family. Could that be you?

Phantom is a white and brown tabby DSH. Ghost is a blue maine c**n mix. These boys have spent their lives together and are looking for a home where they can stay together.

Despite their age, these boys are in great shape. They are on kidney care food. These boys are also front-paw declawed. Both boys are laid back, loving, and quiet. They love so to snuggle and take in the scenery.

🐾November's volunteer of the month is Ashley Ellison!🐾

Ash started volunteering in September of 2024. She had been looking for a place to volunteer for a while, but found that most shelters require volunteers to be over eighteen. One of Ash’s friends from school told her about Second Chance SPCA and she was super excited to have a place she could actually volunteer.
While volunteering at Second Chance SPCA, Ash has made herself a valued regular, coming in multiple times in the week to help prepare the animals food, cleaning kennels, administering medications, vaccinations and taking lots and lots of photos for our animal’s online profiles.
Born and raised in the Allen area. Ash is a senior at Allen High School. Ash has two dogs named Scout and Leela. She takes part in the choir, plays piano, and dances competitively, Ash is also a member of the Allen FFA. Ash also loves a good book.

Ash enjoys getting to see every individual animal's personality. Ash says it's so interesting how distinctive all their characteristics are. And of course, anytime we get new kittens is a good day.

“I’m having a little trouble coming up with something, the only thing I can think of is whenever I would go into River’s kennel and would sit with her, she tried to eat my hair. Every time.”

We truly could not run our shelter without our amazing and compassionate volunteers!

Looking for a smart, sweet, and oh-so-handsome companion? Meet Archie, a gentle and goofy giant with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This 70-pound Great Dane/Lab mix is as affectionate as he is intelligent — he already knows how to sit, lay down, and shake, and he’s always eager to learn more.

Archie LOVES to play, whether it’s romping around the yard or tossing toys in the air. He has great manners around the house and can be a total cuddle bug, but he’s also perfectly content hanging out in his own bed if you need some space.

Archie is still learning how to be his best self around other dogs. He’s participated in playgroups and is making great progress, but he’ll thrive with a patient, committed adopter who can help him continue working on his reactivity with positive guidance.
