I am an loving, affectionate, and excitable boy. I would be great for a family that wants to spend lots of time playing. I love toys, especially toys with squeakers! I can be fairly laid back after we're done playing and would love to snuggling up next to you.

We had a great month of adoptions in October with 16 animals going home!

Here are all the animals that found their "fur-ever" homes in the month of October:

Dogs: Fern, Cider, Simone, Rufus, Lucy, Ricky, Rupert, Jack, Beetle, Truffles, Rigatoni

Cats: Azalea, Almond, Meadow, Gravy, Mrs. Puff

With your help, we were able to rescue 10 new animals from euthanasia last month that were in local municipal shelters.

Our animals are picked up from local municipal shelters where they face uncertain fates. None of this would be possible without your help, because we run entirely on donations!

Look at this goof! 😆 This is Pearl! She is a 1 year old, 30 pound, female husky and shepherd mix. Pearl is a sweet, gentle, and loving girl that loves people and always wants to be near you. She is quite the needy girl and tends to like to stick by her people's side. When Pearl is around other dogs, she really wants to play and give them lots of kisses. She love love loves to play and is active so she would make a great running mate.

It’s our favorite day of the week… CATURDAY! 🐱 We have a handful of very special and wonderful kitties looking for purr-ever homes. We have three kittens (Ash, Tori, and Clay) who are all as cute as can be with their special little eyes, Simba with his sweet personality, our bonded duo Egret and Dove, and our re-run girl Darby! We have a HUGE announcement! Clay, Tori, and Ash are ready for adoption!!! But here’s the bestest part: our special eyelid kittens went under for surgery and once the vet was able to take a good look, he was able to determine their eyelids were developing (just at a very slow rate)!🥳

The vet recommended we recheck in 6 months to see if their eyelids fully develop. If not, the kittens will undergo surgery then. Your funds* helped make their previous care and their future care possible!

They are available for adoption and looking for their forever homes. These kittens will need eyedrops 6 times a day. However, their special eyes don't stop them from being playful, active kittens and wonderful snuggle buddies. So consider if one of these special kits might be right for you! 🥰

Today is Too Long Tuesday and our featured Second Chance pup is none other than Teddy Bear!

Teddy Bear is a 24 pound, 4 year old, male Cairn Terrier. He is an active, playful, and sweet boy and does really well on car rides. Teddy Bear is great on a leash and would make a great adventure buddy!

Teddy Bear is known as “barrier reactive” so the best way to meet him is by taking him outside to play! He would be best in a home with no kids.

I love giving people kisses and hugging with everyone. 🥰 I'm full of energy and need a family that can give me the time and energy I need to grow up as a well-mannered and loving companion. 🐱 October's volunteer of the month is Ian Creel! 🐱

Ian has been a volunteer for only about 4 months but comes in often enough to make a great impression! He first learned about Second Chance SPCA when his girlfriend’s family adopted from here. 🥰

Ian helps a lot with taking the dogs out and cleaning. Ian’s favorite task to help us with is lifting heavy bags of food.

Ian is from McKinney and attends UT Dallas. He is a senior studying business administration and he’s hoping to graduate this Christmas. In his free time, he loves to work out, play video games, and cook. Ian has a twin brother and a younger sister, but somehow he’s the only one without any major pet allergies.

The thing Ian enjoys the most about being a volunteer is getting to interact with all of the animals. His dorm agreement does not allow any pets, and this is the closest he can get to having a pet.

“One funny anecdote I have is during slow times on Megan last day, Mike, Erin, Megan, & I sat in a circle around Stella and were having a competition to see who could get the most love and affection from Stella”

We truly could not run our shelter without our amazing and compassionate volunteers!

Hey there! I'm Jack! I am a 3 year old, 36 pound, male mixed breed. The shelter thinks I may be a Catahoula leopard dog mix but I'm way too small! I am a shy, timid boy looking for a home that will give me time to come out of my shell. I am sweet, friendly, and playful after I warm up to people. I love having my belly scratched. ADOPTED! 🥳 Poor Meadow! She’s starting to think she’ll never get adopted. 😭 She’s been waiting for her forever home for 8 months now. We agree with her that she’s been waiting way too long! Can you help share her picture today so that we can get her out of here?

Info: Meadow is an adult medium hair tabby gal with a curious and brave personality. She can be sweet but she’s also a little firecracker so she needs a cat savvy home that’s kiddo free. Meadow doesn’t like to be picked up much but she loves showing off her floofy tummy and is sure to bring you lots of laughs with her antics. She’s definitely a gal that’s comfortable with who she is and enjoys hanging out and playing. Maybe your cat would enjoy another kitty to watch birdies with?

Adoptions include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, f***l, and heartworm test (dogs) or FeLV/FIV test (cats). All cats and dogs are current on heartworm and flea preventative.

I am a spoiled princess, I expect all the love and attention in the world. I am a super sweet, affectionate girl. I love when people pick me up, snuggle with me, and rub my belly. I have such a loud purr! I love to follow people around and keeping an eye on my people. I am a very quiet cat and will only occasionally squeak at you. I am great with children, I'm very gentle and sweet. I play a little too rough with other cats and would be best as a solo cat.
