We welcomed Simon for a couple months. His veteran came to us through the VA in Orlando area. The cost for boarding Simon for 2 months was more than most people could bear. Simon will be hanging out here free of charge to this veteran while he gets himself better. No excuses, go get healthy.

Have to give a shout out to our newest volunteer, Carol. Baby (that’s the dog) was taken to Highlands County Animal Shelter when her veteran was admitted to Bay Pines VA. A family member reached out, and Carol insisted on doing the pickup for us, which was about 2 hours away. Thank you Carol, for always being a proactive helper. Welcome Baby to the promise!

We picked up Denny at James Haley. He’s a professionally trained service dog and his veteran was being admitted for some serious medical issues. Being new to the area, he didn’t know anyone, but the emergency room staff gave him our number.

We are at full capacity. The kennels for the non-profit are empty kennels from my training business I fill when dogs need to be picked up from the hospital. On a holiday weekend, there are no empty kennels. I reached out to a trusted friend with an immaculate kennel, and VP’s Canine Services stepped in to board Denny.

We picked up and delivered Denny to Ken within 3 hours. We’ll have an open kennel Monday to get Denny if his handler is still in the hospital. Just feeling grateful we have resources to make it work. If you think you can help, please reach out.

We’re really sad to see Kilo go, but really happy she’s going home with her veteran. She became part of the family, sleeping at the foot of the bed with our dogs. We were able to keep Kilo when another “non-profit” turned them away and referred them to us. Thanks for the experience of taking special care of this sweet, senior German Shepherd.

Reunion time for Buddy. This was a cross-state venture. The veteran lived a couple hours from our facility, and the treatment he needed was in southeast Florida. It took a lot of coordination, but we got Buddy here, and helped his veteran get closer to 100%. All of Buddy’s Vet care, grooming, boarding, and food provided at $0 cost to the veteran.

Sometimes, they show up in groups. These 3 stayed with us for an entire month, and needed to be brought up to date on vaccinations. Just using the less expensive boarding facility pricing (which have far less staff and amenities than our facility) of $40 per large dog, this would have cost the veteran around $4k. This doesn’t include the 90 mile round trip to pick the dogs up, due to lack of transportation. You can see why they neglect medical care or are ultimately forced to surrender or rehome their dogs. We were able to keep this trio for $0 cost to the veteran. We were also able to hook them up with some dog food, leashes, and crates at no charge. Obviously, these things aren’t actually free. We cover everything whether there’s money in the account, or we’ve depleted it on supplies and vet care. Stay tuned for ways you can get involved in helping.

Huge thanks to Chad's Promise for their generous donation! This amazing organization, which provides a safe haven for veterans' dogs, just donated a beautiful new desk for our office. We're incredibly grateful for their support!

We get to see little JT pretty regularly. His veteran’s treatment requires him to be admitted occasionally, and we’ve boarded JT every single time. They have a 45 minute, to hour and a half walk to get to the VA. To a Boston Terrier, that’s a ruck march. The vet has some new limitations and can’t carry JT for that hike any longer. He had a dog carrier backpack, which broke recently and I’d like to replace it. While it’s not part of our mission statement, our passion is helping with easy solutions to what seem like monumental problems to veterans. I believe someone out there would be honored to provide JT with a replacement dog carrier backpack to aide in his commute. We’ll happily facilitate the delivery of the dog carrier to the veteran.

We will be in attendance to talk about how we help veterans at no cost, every day of the year. Hope to see you there.

Big reunion day yesterday. Nemo and Lizzie have been cozied up through the holidays with us. Their veteran was able to take them yesterday, and I think they were happy to see each other.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. The kennel is still at capacity and we’re grinding while patches tries his best to take control of his relationship with the cat.

We honor veterans year round, but today especially we take time to reflect on their bravery. Look deep within ourselves and truly understand the luxuries we enjoy are a privilege given to us by those who dedicate a portion of their lives in selfless service to strangers. Patches officially joined the pack. I cant influence the housing side of the VA’s services. He was never able to find housing and told us he wanted Patches to enjoy his remaining years. He’s become such a great training aide for distraction, I hired him immediately.

*** THIS IS FAKE***
I’m not telling you all of them are. I don’t think you’re wasting my time if you send them to me. I had the unfortunate pleasure of investigating these things. I can figure it out before we get taken advantage of. Just pointing this particular one out, in case he tries to keep running it. He did finally reach out by text 🚩. Answered open ended questions with one word answers 🚩 Lashed out aggressively at a VA social worker who initially tried to help him when confronted 🚩🚩🚩. Also stopped responding to me. Also… the chat bubbles were green… either a computer or android device… 🚩🔥🚩🔥🔥🚩 Them shady Androids

Very excited to welcome in Poe! Why, you ask? Poe came through a referral from someone who attended an adoption event we hosted. Most of the dogs come from VA hospitals, but we were able to help this veteran through word of mouth.

We picked up Snoopy from James A. Haley Emergency room just a few days ago. We happily reunited him with his Veteran and wish them both the best. Extremely proud of our growing relationship with James Haley, and their faith in us in critical incidents. Huge thanks to a volunteer who’s become family. Missy was present when the call came in for pickup and jumped right in her car to get Snoopy. We need a dozen more like her.

Position for favorite volunteer is filled. Missy’s been with me since I started taking dogs for veterans. She’s the only one who has followed me everywhere, no matter how far the drive. She’s the epitome of loyalty and charitable giving. She brings so much positive energy and so many great ideas. We’ll never find another Missy. Thank you for everything you do for us.

If you see a chihuahua laying in the middle of the driveway sunbathing when you drive up, he’s okay. We have to walk out most days and drag him back to the shade.

The VA called us in March about an Army veteran employee who showed up to work with all of his belongings. One of them, a 10 lb. 12 year old chihuahua named Patches. The veteran lost his housing, but didn’t want to miss work. Patches has been here ever since. The veteran checks in regularly to let me know where he is, in the housing assistance program and ask about the “Mayor of Kennelville”. Being in a kennel for that amount of time isn’t really an option, so he gets free roam of the property and uses it mostly on tanning. He can be seen here trying to help me speed up Gunner’s recall.

This service is provided at NO cost to the veteran. Zero. We’re using equipment and food from the training business and paying the vet bills out of pocket. If you’re looking for ways to help or just want to come lay in the driveway with patches, reach out!

Big week for returns. Nino’s already leaving with his grateful American Veteran. You can’t tell by the expression on his face, but you can tell by the paw prints all over his handler, he was happy to see her. Total boarding cost to her: $0.00. Be well warriors

Blue’s coming in hot. His owner had help when he got admitted at the VA, but was notified help hadn’t checked on Blue in a couple days. Luckily, the people at Bay Pines VA knew who to call (after being turned away by another veteran’s boarding charity) when this patient asked to be discharged to take care of his dogs. Go get better bud, we got this. To-date, no dogs turned away, and $0 owed for boarding or necessary vet care while they were here.
