Some have noticed and have asked, some may ask when they notice.
We all know that the more time you spend installing roofs, the more you’re at risk of falling.
The more time you spend driving, the more you’re at risk of getting into a car accident.
The more time you spend doing electrical, the more you’re at risk of getting electrocuted.
The more time you spend rushing in to put out fires, the more you’re at risk of getting burned. 👨🚒
The more time you spend working with power tools and saws.. maybe you cut a thumb off?
Well you see, that’s what happened to my daddy.
He and I were working late one night getting ready for a bird show when it happened.
Dad loves what he does and he puts a lot of effort, energy, time and passion into to his work. He loves to make perch stands. And he loves to make the supporting wood cup and cradle the perching wood for not only a better look, but also to make his stands structurally sound.
And that’s when it happened. April 4th. He was using a hole saw attached to a drill press to round out a wooden support bar for a table top stand. When the hole saw came into contact with the wood he was holding and trying to round out, it gripped the wood and pulled his hand right in.
“Stacey, we have to go to the hospital. I cut my thumb off.”
“We have to find my thumb”
Words I never thought I’d hear.
We went to the hospital where he was then airlifted to Blake Hospital is Bradenton.
They reattached his thumb, but sadly, on April 18th, they decided the thumb didn’t take and on April 25th he had his thumb amputated.
How’s my daddy doing you may ask?
He’s back at work doing anything and everything he can. He’s having to learn how to do a lot of things differently, especially right now with one hand out of commission.
But he’s killing it! 💪🏼
I certainly didn’t think that I’d be seeing him using a hole saw this soon either, but he is!! He found a way that ensures he doesn’t get injured again.
“Stacey can you come hold this?”🤣🤣
One thing in our line of work that excites us is seeing people fall in love and buy things that you designed, created and built with your own bare hands. Or in his case, “bare hand.”😅
Daddy, your work and creativeness is something to be proud of and definitely deserves two thumbs up. 👍🏼 👍🏼
I can see now why he had me holding the wood today while he used the hole saw. 🤣
In all seriousness, we’d appreciate if you could add him in your prayers for quick healing and rid him of his pain.🙏🏼
