🐾 Meet Beau! Looking for His Forever Home 🐾 PLANT CITY/FLORIDA
Beau 🐶 is a 2.5-year-old, 16lb bundle of personality! He may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s a loyal and loving companion. Beau does well with most other small dogs and LOVES to play with puppies—he’s always the leader (alpha dog) of the pack! However, he prefers not to be around larger dogs and would do best in a home WITHOUT cats 🐈.
Beau is crate trained and will come with his own crate, as he needs to be fed 🍲 separately from other pets. He’s still working on perfecting his house manners (rescue life with lots of pups can be distracting!), so he’ll need someone patient and willing to continue his training. Beau would thrive with an adopter who can keep him busy, engaged and continue with training.
A home with small children 🚸 is not be the best fit. A fenced yard is required! ⛔️
If you’re looking for a fun, spunky little buddy and are ready to help Beau become his very best self, please reach out for more information or to set up a meet-and-greet! Let us know if you have application on file or apply:

For those who do not use Meta or Facebook to donate please know we still need your help.

Your $25.00 donation can help DSFHR provide food for a dachshund for a month along with their initial deworming and Capstar for fleas if needed.
Your $50 donation can provide rabies, distemper/parvo and bordatella vaccines for a dog.
Your $100.00 donation will do our f***l test/deworming, heart worm test and first dose of heartworm prevention.
Spays and neuters, dentals all are more. But the day to day basic vetting is something we can't do without for these pups.

Will you help us?

We wanted to share an update on new mom Sammie. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been recovering as we’d hoped—her temperature kept rising instead of returning to normal after having her pups, and her diarrhea worsened. This morning, she refused her breakfast, which is very unlike her.
We took Sammie to the vet right away. They did X-rays to confirm all pups were delivered, ran a f***l test, and performed several labs. Other than a dangerously high white blood cell count and the ongoing diarrhea, nothing else showed up as a clear cause. Because there are no safe treatment options for a nursing mom in this situation, it was determined that the best course of action was to remove the pups so Sammie can get the care she needs.
The pups are now being bottle-fed by an amazing volunteer, and Tia is helping nurse and comfort Sammie during this tough time. Thank you all for your support and positive thoughts for Sammie and her little ones—we’ll keep you updated. 💕
We also have an urgent need for puppy formula and Nutri-Cal to help support Sammie’s pups while they are being bottle-fed. If you’d like to help, these items are listed on our Wish list.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support! 🍼💖

🐾 Giving Tuesday is almost here — and we need your help! 🐾
In just a couple of days, we’ll join nonprofits around the world in celebrating Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to kindness, generosity, and community support.
Our rescue works tirelessly to help dachshunds get the care they need — from vet visits and medications to safe foster homes and transportation. As a nonprofit, we rely entirely on donations from animal lovers like you to keep doing this important work.
Your support truly makes a life-changing difference.
Please consider making a donation this Giving Tuesday so we can continue rescuing, healing, and loving dachshunds in need.
Every dollar helps, and every act of kindness counts. ❤️🐶
Thank you for standing with us and for helping us give these little long dogs the big love they deserve!

Adopted 🐾
Gunnar (formerly Sunshine) has left the rescue 🛟
Look who’s living his best life! Gunnar is settling into his forever home beautifully. He’s already napping side-by-side with his new sister, and the two are getting along wonderfully. His family absolutely adores him — and judging by his relaxed, happy snoozes, he definitely loves them right back. 🐾❤️ We’re so grateful to see him thriving, safe, and surrounded by love. Happy tails, Gunnar! 🌟

Saving one Dachshund at a time!

We are a small, home based (my own home, and one in Illinois) rescue where our mission is to find suitable homes for stray, abandoned, and owner surrendered dachshund and dachshund mixes. This is done after getting them their age appropriate shots, deworming, testing and treating as needed for heart worm, fleas and ticks. We spay or neutering them and provide dental as needed. In Florida, I currently work with Hillsborough, Lake, Polk, Orange, and Pasco counties to take in Medical or behavioral “needs” doxies and provide all care and socialization needed to re home them.
