Georgie has left the rescue and is settling in with his new family 🧡 His favorite thing to do is bring all the toys up onto the couch (so at least my floors stay clean! 😄). Scout absolutely loves him and plays the perfect little brother role by constantly keeping him on his toes. Happy life little guy!

Foster Bernie is doing well today, he finally ate around noon, and is drinking. He was rather restless last night, but 💤 good this afternoon. Here are the X-rays from his before and after. After the X-rays few GRAPHIC pictures so proceed with caution. I can see why it is such an expensive surgery. It truly is a Humpty Dumpty for his leg! Thank you everyone whondonated toward his surgery! ❣️

Update from her new mom Jessica💜
She is doing great! She’s still a little timid around Bella and Guinness, but she’s getting more comfortable every day. She even lays in the same bed on the couch with them now — big progress! 💕 She absolutely loves the patio and running around the pool. She had her first vet appointment on Monday and did so well — everyone there loved her! She does need to have a few baby teeth removed and has the start of some periodontal disease, so we’ll be taking care of that next month.
She’s such a little love bug, and we already adore her so much. 🥰

Can't believe how bad the traffic was at 6 am off I4, already there were red lights as far as I could see off Branch Forbes. Bernie is safely in the hands of Dr Garcia and his team at Harborside Animal Hospital for his surgery for his back legs. More to come!

Forrest Update! 🐾
Forrest had major dental work on Monday and lost 19 teeth—he’s recovering well! He’ll need another procedure soon to remove a “floating” testicle that was missed during his previous neuter. Thank you for supporting Forrest as he continues his journey to better health!

We are excited to welcome three new precious souls to our rescue family: Betty, Tesla, and Riker! These sweet pups have come to us in need of love—and some much-needed vet care.
All three will be visiting the vet soon for blood work, x-rays, spay/neuter procedures, and more. Our lovely Betty, who is 13 years old, will need extra attention, including the removal of several masses. Despite her challenges, she remains gentle and loving, and we’re determined to give her the best care possible!
Vet bills add up quickly, and we can’t do this without your support. If you’re able, please consider donating to help cover their medical expenses and give these deserving dogs a fresh start.

A typical day in my life for the last 7 weeks... We are Thankful we have the 540 SQ feet M-I-L apartment, but can't wait to have our house back.

Saving one Dachshund at a time!

We are a small, home based (my own home, and one in Illinois) rescue where our mission is to find suitable homes for stray, abandoned, and owner surrendered dachshund and dachshund mixes. This is done after getting them their age appropriate shots, deworming, testing and treating as needed for heart worm, fleas and ticks. We spay or neutering them and provide dental as needed. In Florida, I currently work with Hillsborough, Lake, Polk, Orange, and Pasco counties to take in Medical or behavioral “needs” doxies and provide all care and socialization needed to re home them.
