🐾 Meet Felix! 🐾
We welcomed Felix to our Chicago/Illinois location! This silly, funny, and smart 5-year-old/15lb boy has the softest velvety fur and a heart ready for love.
Felix’s journey hasn’t been easy—his first home wasn’t kind to him, so he’s still a bit wary of men and takes some time to warm up. But with patience, treats, and gentle affection, he’ll soon be your loyal shadow!
He loves walks, playtime, naps, car rides and especially cuddles on the sofa.
Felix is housebroken as long as he’s taken out regularly, though he’s still learning how to ask to go outside. His second home was with an elderly lady who couldn’t socialize or leash-walk him much, but he’s making wonderful progress in foster care. He even goes to work with his foster mom and greets everyone who wants to pet him!
Felix is very scared of small children, so he’s looking for a home without little kids. All he really wants is love, a comfy sofa, and lots of snuggles.
He’s just been neutered and had a dental cleaning (with four extractions!)—he did great at the vet and charmed everyone there. We did notice he sometimes skips steps with his left leg; the vet confirmed he has a loose kneecap, but it doesn’t slow him down and doesn’t require treatment. You might only notice it when he picks up sp*ed on walks.
Felix is a long, playful pup, so we recommend considering pet insurance due to the risk of IVDD in dogs like him—he thinks he can fly! He gets along well with small dogs (especially females) and does great with his foster brothers after some time to adjust.

We are thrilled to share an update on Piper (formerly Bailey)!
Piper has officially found her forever home, and she’s thriving. Her new family says she’s a fast learner who settled in right away. With many cozy beds to choose from, she loves relaxing next to her humans while they work and enjoying her big yard. Her favorite game? Catching squeaky toys — inside, outside anywhere! She and her brother Olly, a Dachshund also rescued through our organization, love to team up and drag every squeaker out for playtime. 🐾🎉

Meet Coco. Plant City/FL
Coco is an adorable 18-month-old chocolate Yorkie, weighing just 7.1 lbs. He’s a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’ll melt your heart with his love for food and cuddles—especially snuggling on the recliner or anytime you’re ready for some affection.

Coco is currently working on his house manners and learning to walk on a leash, so he’ll need a patient family willing to help him continue his training. He’s very alert and watchful, but not overly vocal, making him a calm presence in your home.
He enjoys playing with other dogs and seems to like kids, making him a great fit for families or homes with other pets. Coco is sure to become an awesome buddy and loyal friend.

Tesla now called Maisie was also adopted by her foster family after completing her major dental yesterday. She fit right in with their other little girl, Josie, and now gets a human sibling to spoil her also. Such a happy ending for this whole crew! 💕

Forrest has finished his last procedure, and his wonderful foster moms, Shellie and Donna, are thrilled to make their home his forever home! ❤️
Shellie and Donna previously adopted another senior from DSFHR and shared three beautiful years together. Now, they’re opening their hearts once again and are excited for all the love and joy the coming years with Forrest will bring.
Congratulations, Forrest — your happily ever after has begun! 🏡💛

🌟 Betty is Ready for Her Forever Home! 🌟
Plant City/Florida
You may remember sweet 13y old Betty—the little lady you all rallied around and donated for her care. Thanks to your kindness, she’s now healthy, happy, and officially ready to find her perfect retirement spot!
Betty is a senior sweetheart, DOB 11/16/12 weighing in at just 6 lbs (that’s about the weight of a big purse, but way more cuddly!). She’s a professional snuggler who LOVES lap time and will happily keep you company during movie marathons or afternoon naps.
🎈A few fun facts about Betty:🎈
✨️Crate trained and does great going outside—as long as you take her out every few hours.
Will use p*e pads, but sometimes only halfway (she’s got her own style). Honestly, she does best if you just carry her out—she loves the VIP treatment!
✨️Gets along wonderfully with other dogs and was a hit with kids at our last event. We’re not sure about cats yet.
✨️Betty can’t bark, so when she tries it comes out as a tiny screech (don’t worry, she saves it for important things like dinner being late or needing a potty break).
✨️Eats like a champ! Small kibble with a little wet food on top is her favorite gourmet meal.
✨️The best news: Betty had her mammary tumors removed and they were benign! She’s feeling great and ready to shower her new family with love.
