So I posted looking to help Coco the little black dog find a home. My friend lost one of her dogs recently and her remaining dog went into a funk. She had not realized how much her dog enjoyed the Zany little dog until she took it away to visit its owner. Guess who now living the life ???
Been a hugely busy day but got this request this morning. Got a really sick owner that needs to rehome her dog. This is hard folks because she loves her dog! This little black furry guy is an unneutered 14 year old..:going to try to post a video. Such a sweetie. House trained, crate trained. Any interest let me know. I am working through a gal that knew me waaaaay back from volunteer days at the shelter. She was one of my besties there... Cecilia Nieves?
Re-check at eye specialist yesterday. No better...soooo added more drops. She is back on metacam for another 5 days too. We are only able to fight the infection and wait. Cannot do any surgery due to age and advanced heart disease. Mom gets very little sleep and hears almost constant barking! Totally spoiled by so much attention!
So this past week another hospice dog stumbled. SUGAR looked like she was in dire trouble. She has had a heart murmur for the last 10+ years...maybe longer. Unlike my littles her heart has never progressed beyond a Grade 3. She is pushing 17 or older and has been with me since March 2008...so shy at the shelter I had to save her!!! She has at times been a horrible dog...quite the bully and fighter ...oh the blood... She got my husband bitten and me bitten trying to break her iron clad grip. Have there been moments!? Ha you betcha! But we persevered...for years... then she finally stopped fighting! If a scuffle started she stopped on voice command!!! What? Now she is deaf and half blind... shys away from trouble and usually gets nipped by the little dogs when she acts like an ogre. We actually have gotten very protective of her! So when she started coughing and coughing...we thought this was it and rushed to the vet. Ha! Sugar is a box of rocks and is still going along like usual! I am so relieved...❤️❤️❤️
A word to all my CCZ friends. As you know we had to release Olive to be free of her failing heart. While my most difficult dog to lose of soooo many... we had no idea Sabrina would be hit so hard. See Sabrina theoretically should have crossed over first. Her heart is worse by the textbook definitions and her heart depreciated faster but had held.., she is true grit. One thing she did... she paid homage to the alpha Olive. She now she has totally lost it. I have meds given to sedate her and I have. Pray for peace while Sabrina sorts this out.
Guess what tomorrow is! It’s Sugar’s 11 year “Gotcha” Anniversary! She is turning 17 in a couple of months! Not bad for a dog that got my husband and I our very worst dog bites! Yep trying to break up fighting dogs does not always go well. Sugar never bit us... no she held on like a snake while the dogs we were trying to save lashed out in fear and pain.
We persisted and Sugar is no longer in the mood to fight even when a little spat is started by another. She has really always been a haunted dog but we never quit trying! She will go to her grave haunted but we will know we have given it our all! She actually has been my one trick pony... She had a routine she was famous for ❤️❤️☺️and I taught her😎
I must need grief intervention. Drive up to the cabin... even with rain all the way through Florida and sunshine beginning at the Georgia line...made record time! Dogs did great and all was just peachy keen until Sabrina had a cardiac emergency around 9 pm...off to Blue Ridge to the only emergency vet in a tri-county area...treated great but it took forever. Yes Sabrina is home with us and now sedated...I am still wide awake knowing we are yet again on the downhill slide. Yes that is Sabrina grooming her alpha Olive...
Every evening that we sit outside with the dogs, Sabrina cleans Olive’s eyes. I call it paying homage to the Alpha B...h. I told her forget about it. Ya never will win favor with her. She runs the pack. Period.
Okay... the antidote to a sad post is a video of the house idiot. Penelope is crippled but that does not stop her from being a monster...she is still shaking her toy at me and daring me to take it...
