Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, excessive drooling, abnormally colored gums, lack of coordination, or vomiting. If you suspect heatstroke, call your veterinary hospital or emergency clinic right away! Many pets will not stop playing despite the heat, so it’s up to you to make them take a break or bring them indoors.

Heatstroke can affect cats, too. Be aware of warning signs including panting, drooling, or vomiting. Help your cat cool down by moving them to a well-ventilated area and call our sister clinic, Turkey Creek Animal Hospital, or your local emergency hospital right away. Please keep cats indoors on hot days, ensure they have access to shady spaces, and provide plenty of fresh water.
