When I have a Hand Stripping client that doesn’t get a bath I always make sure to add a Magic Touch leave in conditioner spray to hydrate the coat and protect the furnishings. This pup also had some tangles so I also used Tangle Free Spray to help get them all brushed out. This makes all the difference in how to coat looks and feels. Not a show dog and it wasn’t leg day. Next visit I will pull the legs. Pet pups absolutely benefit from Hand Stripping and proper coat care also. For clients interested in Hand Stripping, most sessions last about 2-4 hours. I offer one hour sessions if kept on a frequent schedule (1-3weeks)

Coat Restoration 🥰 One of my favorite things is to totally transform coats from dull clipped pet trim to shiny, healthy Carded out coats that look and feel like they should. This owner came to me 6 weeks ago and within just 2 visits you can see the difference. First 3 pics are from today(second visit) and last photo is from first visit. 2024 was an amazing year as not only did I have new pups, new shop and I finally got back into the show ring. Im absolutely in Love with this boy!!!

Archer is such an amazing and lively boy. Hes glued to my hip most days but also is best friends with Jeffrey. This boy came and healed our home and our hearts.

In 2024 Archer began his show career and earned his Puppy Of Achievement Award and earned 2 Points towards his Championship in limited showing to local shows although he did visit the National Specialty in Chicago.
We also tried some Dock Diving and Fast Cat and have a few points in Fast Cat also.

Im so excited to see what we achieve in 2025. As always bathed and prepped using

It was Hand Stripping day for these 2 Mini Schnauzers. They are an adorable pair that I have been working with since they were pups. We now do short legs and faces on them but maintain the jackets fully Hand Stripped. Bathed and Prepped in ! I love using the Soothing & Shiny Coat shampoo to help calm and sooth the skin of any possible irritation after stripping and volume up with color enhancing shampoo on legs and beards. #954

Lets do a Throwback Post all the way bay 20 years!!! This was my FIRST ever dog show with my FIRST ever show dog an Italian Greyhound named Gina. She was one of my heart 💜 dogs!!! She had a successful show career finishing multiple FCI titles and group placements. We sadly lost her way to young due to Pyometra. Forever loved and remembered!

This adorable Morkie had her Spaw Day with us recently. She gets a super cute easy to care for pet trim with short ears and clean shaved feet(due to the way her feet matt up between the toes this style works best for her) i figured Id show what guard combs I use to achieve this trim. I do a 2gc on her body a O gc on her legs and an A gc on her head. Then just tidy it all up with my shears. Using guard combs to set a your lengths and a pattern can help save time when grooming. I use all Wide Guard Combs even on my small dog. Bathed and Prepped in .

Post Clipping Alopecia or PCA is defined as loss of proper coat growth due to clipping/shaving with clippers. There are a few things you need to know regarding PCA.

1. Who is most at risk of PCA? Fur bearing breeds are extremely susceptible to PCA. This includes any breed whose coat grows to a genetically predetermined length and stops. Nordic breeds are even more prone to PCA. Geriatrics, even those with hair, are also very susceptible to PCA.

2. What causes PCA? There is no definitive answer at this point, but there are two scientific theories from recent research. The first has to do with vasoconstriction of the blood vessels in the skin. When the coat is shaved, even in warm weather, the skin reacts by constricting blood vessels that feed the follicles in the skin. Once these vessels constrict the follicles no longer proliferate leading to PCA.
The second theory has to do with the growth cycle. When the coat is shaved, the growth cycle becomes disrupted due to the skin sealing itself with oils from sebaceous and apocrine glands. This traps clipped hairs beneath the epidermis preventing them from shedding out leading to improper growth as well as skin diseases.

3. PCA is unpredictable. There is no way to tell if a particular canine will acquire PCA if you shave. Often there is no issue, but on the third or fifth or even the tenth time, it can happen.

4. Are there actual health risks posed by PCA? The short answer is yes. Again, diseases such as Alopecia X, Black Skin Disease, Furunculosis, and other skin diseases often accompany PCA.
Once the coat has been clipped, the body now strains to properly regulate body temperature. Because dogs do not sweat, a properly maintained coat keeps a canine both cool and warm. This strain to cool the body puts a strain on internal organs.

5. Can there be other causes? Yes. Heath problems such as Diabetes, Cushing's diseases, and Addison's disease should be ruled out. Pets who are known to have these health problems should not be shaved if at all possible.

6. Do felines get PCA? The short answer here is yes. While there is minimal research for canines there is even less for felines. Hair coated breeds such as Persians, Himalayans and others are not affected as often as true fur bearing breeds. While felines seem to be less affected by PCA than canines it can happen.

While there are situations such as severely matted or pelted coats that must be shaved for health health purposes, shaving because you think a pet is hot or shedding too much is simply not in the best interest of the pet. A professional groomers responsibility extends to protecting and promoting a healthy coat. A properly maintained coat will help regulate body temperature and prevent shedding.

It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share that my friend owner of has passed away. She was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Florida we had many great times and even our sons are close in age. We worked together for nearly 3 years at Teacups Puppies and Boutique in Davie and later for a year when she opened her very own salon. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends and Im sure by her clients that stood by her side while she was having her health issues. I pray for strength to her family and friends during this time. .
