*****To my wonderful clients please share to help get this great boy a home*****
Meet Luke, an approximately 2 year old male pooch, temporarily housed at the Southington Animal Control Shelter, who is seeking his special forever home. Luke was removed from a situation where he learned not to trust people. The staff and volunteers at Southington Animal Control along with a professional trainer, hired by the Friends of Southington Animal Control, Inc. , have worked diligently to earn Luke's trust and teach him that people aren't all bad. He is a quick learner and has a good grasp of the basics of doggie obedience. Like most men, the quickest way to his heart is through food😄. We believe he is ready for his forever home, as the constant changes and activity at the animal shelter are not ideal for continued growth in his learning process.
His perfect home would be a structured and quiet one with very limited chaos and a fenced in yard. Ideally he would like to be an only dog/child, so that he can receive all the love ❤️, attention, and direction he so deserves. Although he prefers the soft demeanor of women, he also has been very responsive to mild mannered, dog knowledgeable men. Once he has earned your trust, he is eager to please and will be a friend forever. He loves walks and has great leash manners. He is seeking a home with someone who will be commited to continuing with the positive training methods he has grown to love. Do you believe you could be the forever person that Luke so deserves? If so, please contact Sue at Village Pet Grooming 860-621-6330 to see him in action at one of his weekly training sessions, which occur nearly every Saturday at 9am. Let's see if you are his perfect match!

**Update**
Tomorrow Nozomi goes to see Dr. Matz for a follow up. She has not been deficating regularly and now that she is walking more I am concerned she may have a fractured pelvis. I will drop her off in the morning for xrays to try to determine if there is a pelvis issue making it difficult for her to deficate and to see if she is constipated. She is still eating and drinking like a champ. She has now been fed beef for the last few days. Thank you everyone for your patience, as it has taken me longer to get your pups done. I have been catering to the kitty during the work day and handling lengthy calls with the specialists. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Enjoy this video of her this evening taking multiple steps without falling.
Nozomi update. So this crazy kitty moment happened yesterday morning. Sorry I forgot to load it. As you can see she is trying to pounce and run and do crazy kitty things. We were not expecting it, so we missed the half a foot jump into the air to try to "attack" our dog. Video was caught in the middle of the Sonic Kitty crazies as Peyton called it. Hope it makes you all smile. We had a great laugh.
**Nozomi Update**
Yesterday we went to a neurology appointment. From the doctor's evaluation it was determined that her cerebellum is the part of the brain affected. This is the part of the brain that helps with fine motor movements and equilibrium. The doctor mentioned that kittens by nature of their age already have s cerebellum that is undeveloped bc it develops with age. He mentioned to me that her condition should gradually improve but that it takes time. He agreed that physical therapy will help. We will be making appointments for physical therapy sessions, but first she will be undergoing surgery on Tuesday to repair her lower lip, which was pulled away from her gums. I am considering doing a CT scan or MRI on the same day. The neurologist said this will show if there was a fracture that was displaced causing her brain injury. If there is a displaced skull fracture then that could also be repaired. Logic kind of tells me that this is likely not the case, so I may not have that done just yet. Yesterday she ate like a champ almost exclusively on her own and she began using her rear end and took several steps without falling over. These were great strides.
Nozomi Update
Today Nozomi began eating a raw food diet. She had chicken and chicken livers with some raw goat milk. She ate it minced up and she loved it. She began to pick up tiny chunks of pate food and chew them. She also made great strides in her mobility today. She was able to sit up on her rump with her front legs totally straight and supporting her. And as you can see from the video she was able to climb up onto a bed. She also managed to jump up and crawl out of a open topped crate I keep her in when transporting her. Today there was amazing progress. Enjoy the video of this proud mama moment.
**Nozomi update**
Today the little girl went to church with us. She got lots of attention. And after 6.5 days she finally pooped. I had to give her a stool softener and then I did a warm water belly soak. Which she at first objected to quite vocally, but then she immediately began pooping and felt better. She started to get a little bloated last night and today it was getting a bit more. So relieved that she finally started going. We got her a litter box and some Sweet Scoop litter, bc she is not really urinating anymore upon being stimulated like the mom would do. So I think she is getting to be a big girl. Today she also was really engaging in play with her toys. She still is not walking as she should be at this age. We are praying the little improvements every day will eventually lead her to a full recovery.
**Nozomi (Hope) update** So today was a good day. She was able to lift her head on her own and support it. She is also not having as much of the Opisthotonus (head and back arching and rigidity). It is less frequent and much less severe. These are all great signs. I also have discovered that she is likely much younger than the vet originally had guessed. As I have to still assist her with urinating and defecating as a mom cat would normally do. This means that she likely had just begun opening her eyes when I found her. Making her 3 to 4 weeks. So this also explains why she really was not walking yet. I will post more videos and photos from today. She still has to have her lip surgery, but waiting on the doctor to call back.
Nozomi getting her exercise this morning. Remember she is only weeks olds so movements are already uncoordinated. She has made a slight improvement.
