I am so, so, so happy to announce that Jasper, the 5 year old Bluetick Coonhound who stayed with us for a few days while he was on the lam a couple of months ago has found his forever home!!!!!
After he was surrendered to the Warren County Humane Society, you guys did such a great job sharing his story that he got adopted within a couple of days. However, a mere two hours into that adoption, he “growled” at one of the household members and they returned him immediately. I happened to be in the shelter, speaking with Joanne Hurley-their absolute angel on earth who runs that place-when she got the call. To say we were both devastated was an understatement.
Fortunately, Joanne is both a realist and an experienced animal person, and she recognizes that not only was Jasper stressed due to the week on the run he’d had prior to going “home,” but he most likely didn’t “growl” at them and instead did that bay that anyone with a hound knows so well. If you aren’t familiar with hounds, they’re NOISY. ALL THE TIME. It’s hilarious if you’re not trying to sleep 😂 She also factors in the scenario that caused the “growl,” and is more than fair to the dog, and doesn’t just blindly believe the person. Because of all of these things, and because I had already told her that he was a perfect gentleman for me the several days he stayed with me, she was able to advocate for him and put him back up for adoption.
Yesterday, his new mom reached out to my personal page to let me know that he is safe and very, very loved. She shared these pictures with me, and I think it’s safe to say that Jasper hit the jackpot. She has asked to remain anonymous at this time, and we will of course respect those wishes.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, kind lady, who gave this noisy gentleman a chance. TSK is proud to offer you a lifetime of support in your relationship with Jasper. We are so happy that you both found each other!
