Our Nose Work Advanced Skills dogs had a great time searching yesterday - the dogs and their human owners were hard core in coming out after our winter storm.

The dogs quickly were back in the swing of searching after their break for the holidays.

As you can see from these photos, dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors and breeds enjoy nose work 🥇

“Meet our Friend Rooster”

Rooster is approximately 2.5 years old and his family adopted him in October 2022. They found him on Pet Finder and knew he needed to be a part of their family.

Rooster loves playing chase with his canine sister Maggie in the yard

Rooster’s favorite treat is a raw turkey neck.

He loves the “job” of nosework and searching. He also enjoys taking a nap in the office @ PTZ in between his searches 😊

His owner Susan said she wanted something to do with her dog that would help him build confidence.

What an amazing morning of nose work “out and about searches” at Lincoln Park in Springfield. Nine teams came out for searches and my three dogs also did searches as well.

Great temps @ 60 degrees at the end of December !!

Saturday morning Nose Work “out and abouts” in December can bring any type of weather for sure … today was 100% rain !

Well done work by the 9 teams who came out and were hard core to do searches in the 30 degree something rain….

Cold and wet morning which definitely makes the odor behave differently but the dogs rocked their searches 🔥

Our Saturday “out and about” nose work training took us to the Capitol Complex Visitor’s Center downtown Springfield. Temps were in the mid 20s when we started and then climbed with the abundant sun today.

Wow — the teams did great in a new area for most of the dogs !

Tonight was our “Pooches and Pizza with the Police” night with the University of Illinois-Springfield. We had 9 therapy dog teams at the event, and it was hosted by the police department who purchased pizza for the students.

We love our therapy visits at UIS!

Outdoor nose work searches in a novel location …. Sandra is hosting an “out and about” this Saturday morning and I have a few training spots still open. It’s located in the Springfield, IL area.

Let Sandra know if you’d like to grab a training spot for Saturday morning and she’ll fill you in on the location and time slot.

Cost is $20 per dog

We have 11 new teams who started and have graduated from their Beginner Intro to Nose Work Classes on Wednesdays.

The dogs got to search through areas to find their yummy treats, learned to search independently and would come into class very excited to find their treats.
