Our health department will host in partnership with the Dutchess County SPCA, a free rabies vaccine clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets on Saturday, February 24th, at the DCSPCA located at 636 Violet Ave in Hyde Park. Pre-registration is required at DCSPCA.org or by calling 845-452-7222 X425.

A feral cat was found in Putnam Valley that tested positive for rabies. The cat was located in the area of Peekskill Hollow Road and Tinker Hill Road on February 3. If you were in contact with this cat, immediately call the health department at 845-808-1390. If you are calling after 5pm or on the weekend, call 845-808-1390 and press 3 for the emergency hotline.
The Putnam County Department of Health reminds residents that strange behavior in an animal may be a sign of rabies. This includes acting unusually aggressive or tame, excited, irritable, or lethargic.

Meet Bean! Bean is a 9 week old lovable kitten looking for a home. He loves cuddling and sleeping on humans, and will start purring as soon as he sees someone walking towards him. He also enjoys playing with other cats and gets lonely, so we are looking for a home for him that has at least one other cat! He is the sweetest and is loved by all, even his foster home’s huge dog. He is fully litter box trained and very neat. Bean is available for adoption at the link below! If you think you might be the right forever home for this little guy, be sure to put in an application!
