WARMTH4FERALS WARMING SHELTERS - SHELTER MAKING SUPPLIES DESPERATELY NEEDED.
Hello everyone! It is that time of year again (and behind due to health issues) to get warming shelters out to cats at risk who have been forced to live outdoors = strays/ferals/dump-offs/colonies. We provide shelters to keep them warm and safe until they can be safely live trapped, altered and into rescue.
We are currently in need of hard coolers and Styrofoam boxes that we convert into warm shelters for all cats outdoors. We distribute boxes completed, with instructions and at NO CHARGE., of course donations are always appreciated, but absolutely not expected.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR MAKING SHELTERS:
☞HARD COOLERS and/or STYROFOAM CONTAINERS - (Minimum size is approx. 16" wide x 12" high and 12" deep) In reasonable and cleanish condition. Please refrain from donating dilapidated or dirty containers and any containers that held chemicals of any kind. We cannot use boxes that are not large enough for a cat to comfortably turn around and stand up in, Styrofoam that have significant gashes, any holes, no lid, etc.
☞DUCT TAPE HEAVY DUTY - We use a TON of tape and is our biggest need. Gorilla All weather is best, but any heavy duty is fine.
☞STRAW - clean please. Must be STRAW, NOT HAY. hay absorbs moisture and can cause hypothermia/death. Hay also can get moldy. Must be clean and free of any burrs, unused if possible.
☞BRICKS OR PATIO SQUARES - used as weights inside and on top of shelters.
☞AMAZON OR OTHER PLASTIC MAILING ENVELOPES - used and large enough to fit 1-2 bricks in. This keeps moisture out and insulates against cold temperature or moisture absorption.
☞BAGS OF DRY CAT FOOD - is always welcome we distribute to stray/feral colonies. The larger bag, the better, but we are thankful for any bags (unopened). *We are currently working on a 30+ feral colony in Apple Valley where food is greatly needed as well as a few other sites.
