Harley doing what she loves, making sure the play yard never has a mole issue😉 We can’t believe she is STILL here. She’s been back with us since November, but originally came to us over a year ago. This FUN girl needs someone to understand her breed and that the traits of a border collie are good when she’s able to use them correctly. She would make a great farm dog. She’s great at keeping everyone and everything in line! Harley would thrive in a home where she can work! She needs reminded that she’s not the boss, and is smarter than she lets on. When we’re stern with her she knows how to listen and sit. She just likes to test you first sometimes😂 Her favorite toys are deflated soccer/basketballs and she’ll play as long as you’d like. Harley is just under 2 years of age and is completely vetted. If you can’t adopt, then please share this post to help find her a forever home!❤️ Adoption applications available on our website mchsshelter.org or at the link at the top of our page🐾

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING Ivy💜 We’re doing something a little different for this girl’s post! Most dogs naturally take a few days to settle in when coming to the shelter. This girl took a little longer to settle in. Ivy came in as a stray. She was said to have been found on US31 in Plymouth. Covered in fleas, bald patches, and her butt nearly completely bald. She needed a bath, but was going to have to wait. As the video shows, all she did the first few days was sit in the corner of her kennel. She eventually would come over to eat, but always go back to the corner of her kennel. We started daily walks and bringing her up to the office with us. She learned to trust us and that trusting us meant she got treats! We didn’t blame her for not trusting us though. You’ll notice her left ear appears to be docked. We had our own suspicions, but until the vet was able to take a look we didn’t come to our own conclusions. The vet determined that someone in Ivy’s past took scissors to her ear.😢 We’d have a hard time trusting new people too if someone cut our ear off! Luckily Ivy isn’t letting it stop her. It takes some time, but the love she has to give is worth it. After a bath and all the extra love, you’ll see in the video, Ivy has come around to be the most loving girl.💜 Ivy has gone into the cat room a few times and has shown that she doesn’t mind cats! Although she hasn’t been tested with other dogs, we see no aggression and believe she could do well with others. A big thank you to Zentis for sponsoring Ivy’s vetting! Ivy is spayed, HW checked, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped!
Here’s a walk through of our dog kennels! ALL of them are available with little to zero interest😢 The empty kennels are of dogs who are at the vet or have a pending adoption. We get dogs in almost daily and are filling up fast. It’s sad to watch dogs sit here for days on end without any interest. As you can see they’re all pretty happy though! We love that all the dogs we have are truly such GOOD DOGS! None of them are here to any fault of their own, but they’re here and they’re waiting, so please share!!❤️ Some dogs in this video aren’t on the website or even have a name quite yet, if interested in any or just in general, please fill out an application on our website. If interested in one without a name, put in “specific pet” a quick description of what their kennel card says in the video! mchsshelter.org *not in the video is Lucky, we’ll post his picture in the comments*
We are small but mighty Join us today from 10am - 1pm for our annual Howliday Open House & Donation Drive Stop out and meet all of our furry friends waiting for a family 🐾🎄💕
Update on Buck, he was the 19th dog from our hoarding case. We humanely trapped him last week thanks to help of a home owner who set up a feeding station. Buck was shot clean through his thigh, as you can see he is healing well and he is starting to trust us and even stopping for some scratches behind the ears 🐾💕
Quick update on our boy that was shot through the thigh ❤️ Several days of rest, antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds, he’s putting a little weight on his leg, which is a good sign there’s not extensive damage. He will continue meds, and kennel rest 🙏🙏🙏 someone steps up to adopt him
We want to share with you a glimpse of what our week has been like at the shelter. It’s been all hands on deck while we continue to trap, catch and help dozens of dogs that were victims of a hoarding situation. ( pics in comments) We want to point out that the dogs are safe and being attended to. We have reached out to rescues in the area that are helping with this burden that has been put on our small shelter and staff. But mainly we ask for prayers and understanding for what mental illness can create if a person doesn’t seek help. We’ve attached a great article if your interested in reading. https://www.thealternativedaily.com/9-signs-of-an-animal-hoarder/amp/
