ATTENTION:
At MacWhirter Kennels, we take pride in producing well bred standard poodles as well as ensuring they are protected for their lifetime. We will always take back any standard poodle we have produced at any time, for any reason, no judgement. We do not want our dogs stolen, in shelters and rescues (despite the great work they do), nor running loose after an accident or other emergency. We want them found and reunited with you, their families, or in cases they can no longer be part of your family, they can be reunited with us at the kennel. In order to do this, it requires microchipping them before they go home.
As many of you may know, whether from the news or social media, that “Save This Life” microchips has gone out of business. These are microchips primarily used by veterinary hospitals, shelters, and rescues so they can also keep those pets safe. This means that there are millions of microchips that have to be re-registered with other companies so all pets and service animals can reunite with their families in the event they are separated.
In spite of this scary and sad news, we wanted to take the time to let all of our poodle family know some great news! Our poodles are microchipped with AKC Reunite, which is still in business and is offering to help register the millions of pets whose microchips were left unregistered from “Save This Life.” All of the beautiful standard poodles we have produced and microchipped, are still registered as agreed in our contracts. We wanted to relieve any stress and anxiety any of you may have and are happy to answer any further questions.

We emailed AKC Reunite following the inquiries from some of our poodle families about this concerning news and they have sent out the flyer that is attached below.
Please be advised, we do have your microchips locked with the AKC Reunite. If any information has changed since you brought them home, please contact us with the updated information so we can keep your contact up to date with their microchip.
