Meet Colby!
Colby moved to RHF years ago to be the first equine member of the Derby family! When he was through with his job teaching his girls, we just knew he had to stay with us forever! He now is a proud member of the Lesson horse clan and absolutely adores teaching his Littles! You will find him in all the leadline classes and being the best one to groom at the farm! How will you know it’s him? That beautiful, blue eye and sweet nicker when he hears a candy wrapper!

Meet Becky Archambeault, a riding instructor at RHF with 35 years of riding experience. Becky has been a licensed instructor for 18 years with a bachelors degree in Equine Management from Mount Ida.
Becky showed in IHSA for 4 years reaching champion level in 2005-2006 in multiple disciplines.
Becky worked as the Assistant Coach for the Mount Ida Equestrian Team from 2006-2009.
We are so fortunate to have Becky on our team! She assists at home teaching all levels of riders. Additionally, Becky attends all our local horse shows coaching and making sure everyone is prepared as they enter the ring.

It’s terrifying how fast things can change.
One hour we were showing horses and having a blast at the fair, and the next turned into pure panic… It was horrifying running down that open aisle into a burning barn full of smoke only to find our horses had just been set free but they were stuck standing still blocked in our aisle. We caught them all quickly with the amazing help of Nick, Kasey, and Dylan. Then were able to convince them it was ok to leave as we handed them off to strangers and family to take them somewhere safe. We ran back in for more, cleared stalls without barely being able to breathe, and rushed back to open barns to make sure everyone was accounted for. After the horses were located, given bedding, hay, water, checked for any injuries we took an hour to rest before the sun came up.

This was a scary night that will be engrained in our minds forever. However we can only be so thankful that it didn’t end up tragically worse. In those moments of sheer panic with horses running and screaming, so scared and terrified, I never thought it would end with such an amazing outcome. We are thankful for all of the first responders, trainers, friends, and fair workers and of course the 4H teams that jumped into action to help us get these horses to safety.
Everyone is home, tucked in safely and will be given lots of love, hugs, and scratches over the next few days. Counting our blessings that we were all able to come home safe.

Meet Hawke! 🐴
One of the most beloved ❤️ and dedicated lesson horses! Hawke has taught in our lesson program for many years working with students of all ages from beginners to advanced. Hawke is where many of our riders have started their equestrian career who now have horses of their own. 🐴
If Hawke is not in the arena with a student, then you can find Hawke with ears perked and muzzle hanging out of his stall, patiently waiting for treats and love. 🥕 ❤️

MEET THE OWNER 🌟
Kaitlyn “Katie” Flannery is owner, trainer and instructor of Rocking Horse Farm.🐴 Raised on the family owned farm, Katie has competed throughout New England as well as National and World Championship levels. 🥇Katie continued to nurture her passion Graduating from William Woods University with a degree in Equine Science. 👩‍🎓
Now, as a mom of twin boys Jameson 👦and Joseph, 👦 Katie continues the family tradition of growing up farm life. Dedicating days to training horses and evenings to instructing her students, Katie prepares her barn to attend various shows throughout the year. Rocking Horse Farm along with their students are proud members and supporters of South Shore Horsemen’s Council, NEHC, UPHA and USEF.
Katie invites her students to explore their love of the equestrian world by learning to care for the barn, tack and horses. ❤️ While bonding with their trainer and each other Katie’s students learn the skill of the Saddleseat discipline and build lifelong friendships with her Show Team. 🐴
