I have 3 bags of rabbit manure at $10 a bag and have 4 black does 3 months old and 4 black does 9 weeks old. $20 each and partial pedigree.

As it is getting hotter, here are some hot weather tips to keep your animals alive.

1. Always provide plenty of shade if they are housed outside. Shade cloth, big shade trees, hutch with overhanging roof can help keep the sun directly off them.
2. Water! Rabbits drink more water from bowls when it's hot. Make sure you are offering cool water, not hot water that's sat in a bucket in the sun all day.
3. Electrolytes in the water. I have found adding a pinch of electrolytes to the water in a bowl helps. You don't want to put electrolytes in the water bowl AND the bottle because if they don't like the flavor, they will refuse to drink and probably get dehydrated. Any multi-species electrolytes will work, and I just do about a teaspoon in each bowl when it's hot.
4. Air flow. We use two big drum type fans blowing on the rabbits to keep air moving. You can also use battery operated, clip on fans that clip onto the cage.
5. Other ways to cool off. I will fill a spray bottle with water and mist the backs of their ears and I will also turn their tile over and pour water on the tile. They like to lay on the water, some of them. You can also fill empty juice jugs, bottles, etc with water and freeze them and lay them in the cage so the rabbits can lay next to them. I found the adults avoid the frozen bottles but the babies quickly figure out that it's a good way to cool off.
6. Avoid sudden changes in environment temp. Do not put the rabbits in the house where it's much cooler, then take them back outside. If you buy a rabbit, ask if it was kept outside, inside, etc because if the rabbit goes from a shed with AC and you put it in an outdoor hutch, it's not going to handle the heat very well at all.
7. Keep them eating. In the heat they sometimes just don't want to eat much and if they stop eating altogether it can lead to GI Stasis which can be deadly. Offer grass, weeds, hay to keep them eating. Don't feed them grass if they aren't used to it.
8. Don't breed in the summer. Give the breeders a rest because it's
stressful enough on them just dealing with the heat and babies don't grow out as well in the heat, in my experience. It isn't worth risking losing a good doe.

Summer is a stressful time and even when you do everything you can, you still might lose a few.

I have 14 babies not spoken for! Have several black New Zealand does, a couple chocolate Tricolor Rex (doe and buck from same litter), a white NZ doe and white buck, and a blue Rex buck. Have some butcher weight also.

I still have a few good New Zealand youngsters available but with the people on the waiting list pairs and trios are going fast! I also have a nice blue, pedigreed Rex buck. His dam is missing some weights in her pedigree but he has nice body type and fur.
In 2 weeks I will also have a chocolate tricolor Rex buck and a chocolate tricolor Rex doe (siblings)

We still have a blue Rex buck. "Frisco" is from Ovaltine and Huckleberry and is coming up on 10 weeks old. Fully pedigreed, no missing weights. No show faults. $60

We also still have 4 black New Zealand does, 12 weeks old and a black buck (same litter) $20 each. These will be partially pedigreed. Their dad is a big pedigreed blue NZ weighing 14lbs and mom is a white NZ weighing 11lbs.
We also have a younger litter of New Zealands; 4 black does, 2 white does and a white buck. These are partially pedigreed. King (black NZ) x Twitch (white NZ) $20 each.
The more you buy, the better the discount.

These babies come from excellent commercial does who consistently have litters larger than 10, they are great moms, and I have never had any issues getting them to breed.

This is Casper. He's one I had held back from Joy and Deuce Bigelow's litter because he was super calm and the biggest in the litter. He's sired a few litters now and still so sweet and easy to handle. He weighed 10 1/2lbs today. I think his neighbor, King, has been peeing on his face. Not sure but he's a little smelly lol.

Got a new weight on Annabell Lee. She's up to 4lbs 4oz and is 10 weeks old. She is Snowflake x Moby. It's hard using my camera and trying to hold her in a pose. She isn't a bad doe at all. She's available!

JJ's litter. That Harlequin absolutely LOVES people. She is an attention hound like her dad, Moby. The entire time I had my hand in there she was licking and trying to nibble. She's the first one at the door wanting attention. Still 3 bucks, 3 does. With JJ developing mastitis and most likely won't be able to be bred again we are trying to decide between keeping a daughter or letting all these babies go on to new homes and finding a replacement doe. If we keep a daughter I will need to find another chocolate Harlequin buck. I know some do breed father and daughter but I would rather not. Moby is such a sweet buck but I can't really justify keeping him when I don't have more does that would be compatible with him. Either way, all 3 does in this litter are most likely spoken for.

We still have a nice black otter Rex doe available. Annabelle Lee has a nice pedigree and decent body type. We also have 4 black partially pedigreed 11 week old New Zealand does. We also have a blue Rex buck, broken Opal or blue otter buck( hard to determine). June 6 we will have more black NZ does, a white doe, and two white bucks ready.

Checked Twitch's, JJ's, and Ange;'s litters today. Twitch's babies are 5 weeks old and looks like 4 black does, 2 whites and a white buck. These are partially pedigreed NZ and will be ready to go in 3 weeks.
JJ's babies are 3 weeks old and looks like a chocolate Harlequin buck, 2 chocolate tricolor bucks, a chocolate Harlequin doe and 2 chocolate tricolor does. Angel's babies are 3 weeks old and she has a white doe and two white bucks. These are non pedigreed NZ.
The Rex are fully pedigreed. I will check genders again a few times before they leave because they are still fairly young and it's easy to mistake genders at this age.

JJ had her litter and we have 2 chocolate Harlequins and 5 chocolate tri color. We did have to put her kits with Angel, a white NZ mama who had her litter at the same time. Angel has been doing a great job feeding all 10 babies. JJ's 7 plus her own 3. JJ isn't doing too good after having her litter so we may be keeping a doe from her litter. Pictures coming this weekend.

Ovaltine x Huckleberry babies. It looks like 3 bucks, 3 does. Don't remember off the top of my head which are bucks and does lol. I do know I have a blue buck, blue doe, broken blue buck. The others I'd have to check their ear. Ready May 4. $40 each. Broken Blue buck is spoken for.

We have a black New Zealand buck, breeding age. He has sired one litter of whites and blacks. $25, partial pedigree

The 28th, we will have black NZ does, 8 weeks old and one black buck available, $20 each.

We will also have a litter of Rex, pedigreed, available mid-May. Colors look like blue, broken blue, broken Opal, possibly broken Lilac. $40 each

A litter of white NZ and a litter of hopefully tri color, Harlequin, and chocolate Rex are due in the next few days.

Don't want to jinx anything but Twitch had her litter yesterday and I took a peek. She was bred to King, who is from Fancy Like (blue) and Casper(white) and he's black. Another breeder had told me King could carry blue and to breed him to a white doe to test it. I did and it looks like out of a litter of 11, we have at least 6 BLUE babies! The others are white. I had been wanting blue NZ babies for a long time :)

I also have pedigreed Rex from Snowflake (white) and Moby(choc Harlequin) and Ovaltine (Opal) and Huckleberry (Broken Blue). Rex are $40 for juniors. Will have pictures soon.

Fingers crossed but we might have actually gotten some blue New Zealand babies from Joy and Crush. I'll check in a couple days but there are some that are definitely lighter in color. She had 11 but I'm expecting some of the smaller ones to not make it. I know some breeders will try to keep them all alive but honestly sometimes it's better to let nature do its thing.

Been trying to get a litter out of my Opal Rex doe who came from Texas. Bred her twice to the blue otter buck that we raised and the first time she had them a week early and they all died. This second time was a miss, so I bred her with Huckleberry, the broken blue and the blue otter's brother. Had a few good fall-offs and she was very willing so fingers are crossed. Hoping JJ is pregnant because I bred her to Moby, the chocolate Harlequin. Hoping for tricolor babies and more Chocolates. Twitch is due on Monday so she's getting her box tomorrow. She has never missed, so will have more New Zealands.
