A little about us...
SRD is the journey of our family to help animals to help people. My name is Nikki and my husband is Frank. We grew up as those kids that could not resist bringing home a stray animal or sick bug. As adults we have continued to bring in those living creatures around us that need help. In our 20 years together we have brought in and adopted out 1000s of animals from horses to h
ermit crabs and everything in-between. Together we have raised our 5 kids here in Pocatello and are enjoying grandbabies now in this wonderful place. SRD(Snake River Doodles) began as a way for me to help people live an independent life through a carefully chosen breeding program for medical alert dogs. My dog, Zeus, changed my life and countless others through his amazing ways and his incredible genes. We also continued to rescue and place many dogs as service animals this way as well. We began to research the effects of not only medical alert dogs, but the benefits of them providing therapy in facilities and private locations. As this research progressed, we learned that while dogs are absolutely incredible... our other animal friends can touch humans in a way that a dog may not be able to. Some have allergies or fears. The rabbits, horses, lizards, and even snakes have provided 1000s of hours of therapy over the years. We never charge any fee for the countless hours of therapy services, but it has filled our hearts more than any fee could. Our family has traveled with our animals to teach for the past 15 years. We have gone to 5 states & hundreds of venues to spread information & love through our amazing animal family members. The local Farmer's Market, Festivals, and Fairs have brought our animals to the community in a way that we love to have you feel like our animals are yours, too! We decided to open this new Wild Reptile Adventure for a few reasons. First, we want the animals we rescue, that love human interaction, to have a sanctuary. Next, we wanted a place for homeschools, preschools, and any other organization or families to be able to come and learn about these amazing living things we share our world with. Finally, we wanted to have a place to create revenue to provide the animals with the things they need. All of our programs have been funded 100% by our family & the fun services we provide with our community events & learning experiences with the animals. A great way to help is to come and adopt one of the rescues we have in the adoption center. All of the recues come healthy, happy, and handleable. At this time we would appreciate any donations to help the animals thrive & to be able to build new enclosures! Those can be made in person at 501 N Main in Pocatello, through our Venmo (), or at https://pocatelloevents.com
