Jenkinson’s Aquarium is a privately owned facility located on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Opening in June of 1991, Jenkinson’s Aquarium has proven to be a valuable educational and recreational resource, as evidenced by its growing popularity. The aquarium is dedicated to educating the public on all aspects of marine life and conservation. Each exhibit is designed to promote awarenes

s of the animals, their habitats and conservation. Exhibits such as Atlantic sharks, Pacific sharks, coral reefs, penguins, and seals give you the opportunity to get up close to animals from around the globe. Another attraction, the touch tank, allows visitors to touch live animals ranging from a sea star to a sting ray! In addition to the educational exhibits, the aquarium offers workshops for children of all ages, as well as professional development workshops for teachers and group tours for schools and scout groups. Groups are provided a general tour of the building and can choose between a number of Focus Programs that will highlight a chosen topic. If your group is unable to make it to the aquarium, we can come to you through our Outreach Program. If you are looking for somewhere special to have your child’s birthday party, the aquarium is just the place. We offer a Perky the Penguin Birthday Party for children turning four years or older. The aquarium is also available for evening functions such as wedding receptions, corporate parties or business meetings. For those who wish to volunteer their time, Jenkinson’s Aquarium has an extensive volunteer program for those over the age of sixteen. The aquarium staff, including volunteers, participate in many community programs including Adopt-a-Highway and NJ Community Water Watch. Either in the community or at the aquarium, our staff will greet you in a courteous and professional manner. The staff is on hand to answer any of your questions while visiting, making it an enjoyable and educational experience. On your way out, you can take the fun home with you after browsing through our aquarium Gift Shop which has an extensive selection of marine related products. Jenkinson's Aquarium is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). AZA is America’s leading accrediting organization for zoos and aquariums, and accredits only those institutions that have achieved rigorous, professional standards for animal welfare and management, veterinary care, wildlife conservation and research, education, safety, staffing, and more. The aquarium is open all year for your convenience, closing only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. We are very excited to announce a new member to the JA family! Everyone meet OB Wan Ken OB!!

OB Wan Ken OB, Wan for short, is a Geoffroy's marmoset. Wan came to us from Knoxville Zoo, TN, but was born at the Prospect Zoo in Brooklyn, NY on August 2, 2014. He was originally sent to Knoxville to be paired with their older female whose mate passed away. He was her "only hope" for a mate, hence his name.

Wan was a companion to a couple different female Geoffroy's marmosets at the zoo, but eventually became their only one. With no monkey friends at the zoo for him, the decision was made for him to join our pygmy marmoset, Pacal, and common marmoset, Fergie.

Fergie, Pacal, and Wan are all still getting used to each other, but we think they are all becoming fast friends. We are so happy for Wan to be part of our JA family!

🎨 Paint & Sea - March 16th, 2-4pm - Can you paint with all the colors of the sea? Hone your skills at our Paint and Sea class hosted by Art with Graz. Registration includes all day admission, 2-hour painting class, and keeper chats. All materials provided. $50 per person (Ages 10 and up).

🕶️ Sensory Saturday - March 22nd, 9-10am - Guests with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing or cognitive challenges, as well as guests requiring assistance for disabilities are invited to explore the aquarium before we open to the public. To create a sensory friendly environment there will be a decreased noise level, limited visual stimulation and less crowding. General admission applies.

🦭 International Day of the Seal- March 22nd, 12-4pm - This day promotes the conservation of seals worldwide. Join us as we celebrate these amazing marine mammals with keeper chats, educational displays, crafts, and activities. Included with general admission.

🐟 Junior Keepers - March 23rd, 8-11am - This is a great program for those future marine biologists! Come experience the aquarium from an employee’s point of view. Learn how to provide animal care including training, enrichment, and feeding for a variety of animals. You’ll go behind the scenes, meet live animals, and talk with our care staff.
Pre-registration & sneakers are required. Ages 7-11 years. $100 per Child.

🎉 Family Fun Friday - March 28th, 5-8pm - Open late ’til 8! When your workday is over, bring the family for some after-hours fun! Take part in a scavenger hunt, make a craft, and enjoy a bedtime story with Wally, our two-toed sloth! Included in general admission.

🧘🏻‍♂️ Yoga Time! 🧘🏻‍♂️

Start your day with a serene yoga session before we open to the public! Enjoy an hour-long yoga class this Sunday (3/2) from 9-10am with This Is Yoga NJ on our newly renovated upstairs space surrounded by fascinating sea life, including our playful seals, Turbo and Noelani.

After yoga, your ticket includes admission to explore the entire aquarium at your own pace. A perfect way to blend relaxation with a unique aquatic experience!

🎂 Birthday Alert 🎂

Join us as we wish our Captain Jack a happy 10th birthday! When he was a chick, his spots on his belly made it look like he was wearing a pirate sash, hence why he is named after Captain Jack Sparrow from The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Captain Jack can be a very affection boy. He enjoys the company of the staff members, who spoil him with attention.

Sometimes we get the strangest visitors 😂

Our ball python, Houdini, took a trip to visit some of our animals. Fergie, our common marmoset, was unsure of this visit. We think it's fair to say they will not be pen pals 😂
