Gorgeous and delicious. Thank you, Peggy!

Perhaps you heard last year about the delicious pies the Circle of Care ladies made with freshly gathered Point Roberts apples. If so, you heard that they were packed with apples, perfectly spiced and incredibly delicious. "The best apple pie I've ever eaten" was the comment from one customer! Here's your chance to get yours in time for stocking your freezer for the cold, rainy days to come. Just think how cozy it will be to sit in front of the fire while its delectable fragrance fills your house and how delicious it will taste topped with a bit of cheddar or some ice cream. 9" pie, crust or crumble topping $20. 5" individual pie (but big enough for 2!) $10. Get your order in before Sept 22 at noon via [email protected]. Watch your email for the time and location of your pick up on the 24th.

We will be starting seeds in the greenhouse very soon and we welcome you to join us.

We would be happy to have new members, novice or experienced gardeners. To be fully vested, new members devote 10 hours to the gardens (even if you know nothing about gardening per se, there are plenty of "unskilled" tasks to be done such as w**ding, mowing, trimming, digging, moving compost, etc) and then we ask 3 hours each week. We have a number of experienced gardeners who are generous with their knowledge and expertise, happy to answer questions and guide your efforts. If you will send me your email address at [email protected], we will put you on our email list. We look forward to welcoming you to the gardens

Wednesday Work Party and update:
Wow! What a team! Lots of progress was made at Saturday's Work Party. I'm so grateful to be working alongside each of you.

We must start harvesting, folks! The radishes are big enough and this hot weather is causing the spinach and the kale to bolt so we need to be chopping it off and having spinach, kale, chard and lettuce for dinner! For those who don't know, "bolt" is what a plant does when it's stressed (as in long, hot days) and just wants to make seeds. The central stem grows very tall, it flowers and then, of course, makes seeds, and the leaves become tough and often bitter. We don't want to eat bitter lettuce or spinach so let's make sure it goes home with you. If you've been putting in your volunteer hours, please come by on Wednesday 11-2 and take some greens home with you!

We hope you will join us on Wednesday from 11-2pm. You might want to bring a lunch and something to drink as well as your sunhat, work gloves and your fav gardening tools! Please let me know if and when you are coming via my personal email [email protected] or text on 303-906-8880.
Here's what we'll be doing on Wednesday.

Plant or repot seedlings
w**d the raised bed on the west side of greenhouse 4--it is full of herbs, strawberries and WEEDS
w**d the aisles between the beds of garlic
plant beans
scavenge the remaining 2-3 inches of compost in the compost enclosure for use in raised beds. That area was lined with heavy plastic before the compost was unloaded there last year and a goodly amount remains that could be scooped up and used in beds. It will involve pulling up the edges of the plastic, and shoveling either into wheelbarrows or into a pile at the west edge of the enclosure.

See you there. (again, please rsvp if you are coming and what time)
