It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye, fly high, and forever happy tails to our friend, volunteer rescue pilot @seuk_kim. In a world often filled with need and struggle, Seuk was a shining light. A man who put others, both humans and animals before himself. He never hesitated to fly down to our little Anson County airport to help save the lives of our deserving dogs or cats. He flew them all over the East Coast, all over New England. Countless dogs and cats for multiple rescues and shelters, and multiple of our own from Anson County, all living better lives, or living at all, because he gave his time, energy and resources to get them out of shelters down south. We’re convinced that Seuk fell in love with every animal he met. We hear his voice in videos and remember him laughing as he asked our dogs each flight, “do you like kids? Do you like cats?” as he joked about just bringing them home to his family in Virginia instead. Our hearts are heavy for the animals Seuk would have saved, our hearts are heavy for our already exhausted and often saddened animal welfare community, but our hearts are broken for Seuk’s family. In a world that is often dark with so many turning their backs to those in need, Seuk never looked away. He always jumped into action. The world needed more Seuks, not less. It is a darker world without him in it. But his inspiration to so many is left behind. His effort will continue to be seen by the many that will cuddle their animals each night knowing they are safe and loved in their homes because of Seuk. His legacy will not be forgotten. We love anniversaries. Who doesn’t? They’re a reason to celebrate. On Saturday, November 16th Hoss had an anniversary. Unfortunately, not one we want to celebrate. Saturday marked Hoss’ 365th day in our open-intake county shelter. No dog deserves this anniversary. Hoss has been patiently waiting for his forever family since his intake date over 1 year ago. That’s 12 months of hoping, 12 months of wondering if today will be the day he finds a loving home. Three-year-old Hoss is a handsome boxer mix who is nothing short of wonderful. This boy will make an incredible family dog! He has a set of the cutest webbed paws and an adorable, happy demeanor that will instantly warm your heart.
