One more from yesterday's Cat Bus visit to Pequannock Animal Shelter, NJ!

The FIRST cat who greeted me when I walked in was this new little man named Bob.

If ever there was a cat with an authoritative air about him, it's Bob.

Senior cat (10+...maybe like 14?) Bob was found walking alone, not far from the shelter. When asked where he was going, Bob replied, "I'm not sure! I came here for something and when I got to this street I forgot what it was!"

Bob was very thin, probably from being outside. But you can see he's looking much better now! And they gave him a JOB! If you have any questions during your visit, ask Bob! He's ready to help! Friendly, outgoing, gets along with other cats, Bob will follow you everywhere! (Unless he is on his break or taking a nap.)

If you are interested in this awesome, helpful nice and good cat, you can contact ACO Christi at 973-835-3980 to meet Bob!

(PS: I did have a question, so I asked Bob if he could lend me $50 so I could get a cup of coffee from Frankie [see prev. post] and he said yes!)

(As he proceeded to hand me three gum wrappers and a half-eaten roll of Lifesavers. I think he was a little confused. So I had to pay for my own coffee, but the Lifesavers were a nice bonus!)

A huge thank you for the visit yesterday by the cat bus of The Real Cats Ride again!!📸 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/...

Yesterday the Cat Bus paid a long-overdue visit to see our friends at Pequannock Animal Shelter, NJ!

They still have many cats to choose from but have really stepped up and found homes for several of their "hoarding house" cats so that's good news! (I will add, they were mostly cats who needed lots of medical care and s/n as well as some pregnant cats.)

There are still, surprisingly, a few (big) kittens left who need homes. Yes, Mandy and Scarlett are still there as well. And a few of them are "shy cats" who will need someone patient to help them along. You can see posts about their cats daily on their vol-run FB page, The Cats of Pequannock Animal Shelter ! (When I visit, I know almost all the cats just by following that page!)

What's nice also is that they try innovative things to try and get more people to visit...such as the addition of this Dunkin Donuts drive-thru window! You know I'm a "sucka" for coffee! So I figured I'd give it a try!

My barista was Frankie, a young girl cat who was rescued from a "high kill" shelter and given a new chance to find happiness! Frankie is not very "cat friendly" and she is also on the shy side...but yesterday she bravely manned (catted?) the drive-thru window (really more of a "walk thru" since it's inside) and it went something like this:

Frankie: Hello Person. What would you like?

Me: Hi Frankie! I see the coffee is free today!

Frankie: It is.

Frankie: Cups are $25.

Me: WHAT! That's OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Frankie: Do you want one? You're holding up the line.

[There was no line.]

Me: OK FINE. I'll have cream and sugar, please.

Frankie: That's also $25.

Me: WHAT???

Frankie: Each.

Frankie needs a good cat person who will earn her trust (she has been through a lot, sadly) but she is young and I know she is worth the effort!

(And actually, the coffee was pretty good despite the price gouging...)

Contact ACO Christi at 973-835-3980 to meet Frankie!

Today is and a good time to remind you the Shelter has an abundance of cats available for adoption! Someone has to love them till you do! With so many cats to feed, provide medical care, spay & neuter, even our cat toy and treat budget is quickly shrinking. The Shelter is busting at the seams. Wondering how you can help? Donate, adopt, share this post & ask your employer about matching donations. If you’ve been thinking of adopting a new friend (or an older one), there is no time like the present! Keep your donation dollars local - ADOPT, is a local 501c3 organization. Your monetary donation may be tax deductible. As a 501c3 organization, your donations may be matched by your employer. Find out if donation matching is a benefit offered by your employer! Thank you for considering our request!
