Ability Farms

Ability Farms is a small farm w/ sheep, goats, and Reg Dexter cattle. We are a small farm that has Dexter Cattle, Kiko goats and polypay sheep.

We also raise and train border collies and collies for herding and to provide help w/ the stock. We also have ducks, duck eggs , and chicken eggs. We don't use antibiotics unless necessary and everything is cage free and pasture ranging. We also raise and train Border Collies and Collies for herding . We take outside dogs as well as offer lessons by appointment.

I've been waiting about three years to catch up with the beautiful Blue-eared kingfisher... and not only because it is seasonal and rare, very shy, and difficult to catch, but back then I did not have good enough gear to really capture all those details.

Today, I guess, was my lucky day! With a one-hour lunch break and a tip from a fellow birder, I decided to go and find that spot for myself. Although not easy to find if you did not know what to look for, I eventually caught up with another friendly photographer at the spot... and we did not have to wait more than 10 minutes before it showed up, and performed all the poses, dived, caught a fish, ate it on the spot, and flew away: WOW!!!

It is a really small Kingfisher, but a real beauty with striking colours and patterns, and despite not having my tripod or monopod, I managed to get some good stabilization out of my gear and got most of them right.

This is one of my favourite, and long sought-after shots: finally :-)

Vets made this tiny bird with deformed feet its own set of mini snow shoes.

This little mockingbird doesn't have a name. It was recently rescued by the California Wildlife Center. The shoes helped to realign its feet, getting them back to the normal foot shape for a bird. After just one week, the bird’s feet were fixed and he was able to walk around on his own.
