Meet Archer!
Due to no fault of his own he is looking for a new home. Archer is an 11 month old pittie mix and has completed our 2 week board and train program and is also undergoing ecollar training. He is amazing with other dogs and small kids. He would do best in a home that will integrate him into their every day life. He loves to play but also loves to snuggle on the couch.

Meet Harlow! This gorgeous girl got off to a rough start with us and was extremely overwhelmed when Mom was dropping her off. Fortunately for both Harlow and Harlow's Mom they couldn't be at a better place to get help!

It took 3 days of just spending hours sitting next to her kennel and feeding her treats for her to feel comfortable with me. It took an additional week for her to feel comfortable with everyone else at the facility. But now she's blossoming and thriving!

Cane Corso's can be challenging but if you can dedicate yourself to gaining their trust they will go to the end of the world for you!

I'm excited to see how far Ms. Harlow goes over the next two and a half weeks with me!

Ruby is wrapping up her 2 week board and train with me and thus girl is so photogenic! The last part to our program is socializing the dogs. Socialization is exposing the dog to all kinds of sights, sounds, smells, textures and more. This helps them in many ways including self confidence in new situations, and transferring behaviors to new locations. Ruby has done great and has really enjoyed her time exploring with me 😊

PONCHO LEARNS LEAVE IT!
The ‘leave it’ command is a very important one for every dog to know!
This command not only helps you as the dog owner to keep your personal belongings out of your dog’s mouth but also helps your dog stay safe!
Start by placing some treats on the floor and covering them with your hand.
As you do this tell your dog ‘leave it’
As soon as your dog leaves your hand alone (no sniffing, licking, or trying to push) remove your hand and remind your dog to ‘leave it’
If your dog moves towards the treats, cover the treats with your hand and repeat.
Once you can successfully move your hand without your dog moving toward the treats, reward your dog with your other hand with a higher value reward. (varies with each dog)
This teaches your dog that the reward from the environment (what they’ve been asked to leave) is not nearly as good as the rewards YOU give!
Once your dog understands this concept well you can start making it more difficult and more true to a real life situation!

PONCHO JUST FINISHED HIS FIRST WEEK AT PK9T
Poncho’s Family signed him up for our 4 week board and train program where he will learn sit, down, stay, go-to place, leave it command, come on command, door manners, food manners, crate training, and heeling on a leash. He will also learn how to greet people and be around other dogs while maintaining his obedience and manners.
Poncho will also spend extra time going out to public places to work on his socialization and neutralization skills!

ASH IS READY FOR SOCIALIZATION!
Ash gets to start going on field trips this week to work on her socialization skills!
The goal is for Ash to experience as many environments as possible while gaining positive experiences!
Trainer Emily will do this by providing structure and rewards when Ash shows she can maintain her obedience with distractions!
Ash’s biggest challenge has been wanting to be involved in everything with everyone which makes it difficult for her to maintain her focus, but with practice she will be able to remain neutral to distractions.

Meet Rhino! He is a 3 year old Cane Corso and is in to finesse his obedience and work on some undesirable behaviors he's picked up recently. Right now we are taking time to get to know each other and build trust in each other, he's a big sweetie!
