We love seeing your success stories!
This dog's family didn't want to rehome her—but after the wife went through six months of difficult medical issues, they felt this was the right option for their well-loved, 6-year-old dog.
But how could they find their dog a home, without him having to enter an animal shelter?
"It was a heartbreaking ordeal. We didn't want to leave him in a kennel," the owners told the San Diego Humane Society—whose staff helped this family use the self-rehoming website Home To Home page on the shelter's website, to create an adoption profile. This website allows people to find new homes for their pets themselves, while the pets are still in their original homes.
And it worked. "We only got one inquiry, and, as it turned out, he only needed one. My dog was adopted by a retired gentleman with an older dog of the same breed," the family said. "I'm very glad I had access to this resource. I've received a couple updates and he is doing well. His new owner has left the door open for visits."
We're so happy this dog was adopted right from one loving home, into another. We hope the dog's original owners are healthy and well, and have the peace of mind of knowing their dog went right from their home, to a new owner who loves him very much, too.
