Introducing our Kitchen Krew: Tongs, Grater, Ladle, Spatula, and Basting Brush!

These kittens are 7 months old and ready to keep you company while you cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Stop by during our open hours to see if you need to add any of these utensils to your kitchen!

Miss Shira is testing out the new cat wheel today! Those that have been in our cat rooms before know that we did have a smaller wheel, and we think it's safe to say that they love their new, bigger upgrade! We did move our smaller wheel into the kitten room in hopes they will enjoy it just as much as Shira!

🐾 February Recap

We had a little fewer adoptions this month than we have the past few months, but we are still so happy that 15 dogs and cats found their furever homes! Especially Beauty and Twister, who were 2 of our longer term cats!

We also had a blast at the adoption event at Goldwater Care with the residents and some of our available pups! It was a very special Valentine's Day, and we are so grateful for all of the donations that we received from the donation drive!

We do have a few events scheduled for March! Keep an eye on our page as we will be posting more details!

And of course, we want to give the biggest of thank yous to our adopters, volunteers, donors, and supporters! We couldn't do what we do without you guys! We are so appreciative to be a part of this community!

And one last thank you for all of the love and support we have received in regards to our sweet Thatcher gaining his wings this month. Everyone's kind words have really meant a lot to our staff as we have been going through this difficult grieving process.

One of our puppies, Decoy, got to help out on some shelter work today. After all that hard work (drinking from the hose), she was worn out! 😅

Decoy and her 3 other siblings are almost 9 months old and ready to celebrate their 1st birthday in their own home!! Come to LCHS to meet her or her siblings! 🐾

As I sleep here on the couch, I dream about life outside of the shelter. In my dreams, I have a house to call home, I have a bed to sleep on, and I have a yard to run in. I get lots of treats, I have lots of toys, and I have humans who love me. If only someone would give me a chance, my dreams could come true.

A note from Camo, Decoy, Stag and Grunt:

One of the most asked questions the staff gets about us is, “What breed are they?”

Well, one of our sisters who was adopted has some pretty amazing pawrents that decided to purchase a DNA test! We finally got the results back, and we are very excited that we have an answer to that question!

From the looks of it, we have fun results in our DNA! According to our sister, Angel's (formally Arrow) Wisdom DNA panel, we are:

27% American Staffordshire Terrier
23% Australian Cattle Dog
11% Miniature American Shepherd
11% American Pit Bull Terrier
8% Boxer
3% American Bulldog
3% Border Collie
2% Great Pyrenees
2% Labrador Retriever

There’s so many great traits that come with each of these breeds, and we’re lucky enough to get the best traits from all of them combined into one! Stop by the shelter to meet us. We would love nothing more than to go home with you.

They are cute, furry, and ready to pull off the ultimate heist. These 4 senior Chihuahuas are ready to go to their forever home where they can continue to protect their family.

LCHS is hoping to get Private and Rico into the same home as they prefer to work together through their missions. 😉

THATCHER UPDATE

Hi again, facebook friends, As we had already posted, Thatcher's cancer has come back and has spread to his lungs, and we sadly had planned for him to cross the rainbow bridge on Thursday 2/15.

Since his initial diagnosis earlier this week, Thatcher has progressively gotten worse, and despite our best efforts with pain medication and lots of love, he is showing that he is in a lot of pain. We have not made this decision lightly, but with his symptoms, we have decided that it will be best to move this date to tomorrow, 2/10.

As this breaks out hearts, we know that the sooner that Thatcher is pain-free, the better it will be for him. We wanted to thank everyone for their support as we go through this difficult time. Thatcher will be getting lots of love and treats as he is up in the office with us today if anyone would like to stop by to give him some love.

Radio sure is missing his best friend, Arrow, who was adopted last week! Radio is a 1 year old mixed breed, and he is ready to find a home of his own! He LOVES attention, treats, and playing outside! He'd make the perfect companion for an active family! Don't keep him waiting any longer! Stop by LCHS to meet Radio!

Our handsome boy, Chex! Chex is a 1.5 year old Lab/Aussie mix! He was found as a stray and never reclaimed. He has been at LCHS for almost 3 months! Our amazing volunteer, Lorie, took this video of him the other day so we can show you all what a good boy he is!

Camo has been loving the snow! Camo is a 7 month old mixed breed puppy! He came in with his siblings last September and is still looking for his forever home!

Rumor tends to be quite the couch potato, but we want to show everyone that she has a playful side, too! She's been having so much fun with the snow! And yes, she does require the staff to give her all the cuddles on the couch after returning inside!

Take 5 is just the SWEETEST girl! It's hard to believe that she has been with us for over a year! She is always the first to greet you when you walk into the room! She wants nothing more than to receive all of your attention! If you are searching for the perfect lap cat, Take 5 is your girl! Stop by during our open hours to meet this lovely lady! It'll only TAKE 5 minutes for her to win you over!

Our favorite feline duo: Primrose & Katniss! These sweet girls are 4.5 years old. They are coming up on their 2 year mark here at LCHS at the end of January! We'd love to see Katniss and Primrose find their furever homes! Even though they are sisters, they do not have to be adopted together. Stop by LCHS and give them the chance they deserve!

Enrichment isn't only for dogs! Lime here is enjoying this homemade toy filled with treats! This kept him busy for several minutes, and it was so fun to watch him try to get all the snacks out!

Hi! It's me, Twister, again! Don't you think I'd look pretty cute sitting on your couch? I am a little over a year old and the last of my litter to get adopted! I'll have to admit that I am a bit jealous of them as they all have loving homes and get to have so much fun with their families! I know my day will come eventually, so if you are looking for a spunky girl to add a little bit of entertainment to your home, stop by and meet me! I will surely win your heart over!

Say hi to Salt! This handsome guy has been here at LCHS for about a year and a half. He came in at just 4 months old with his siblings Lime and Tequila. He tends to be a bit reserved when new people come to visit, but as you can see, he is super sweet with people after he gets to know them!

Bath time for our sweet pup, Radio! He always tries to look his best, just in case potential adopts stop by! 🛁

Jasper is another staff favorite here at LCHS! He enjoys nothing more than his weekly walks with Lorie at Humiston Woods!

Our big boy Storm needs to lose a few pounds! As you can tell from the video, he wants absolutely nothing to do with the weight loss program we created for him! 🤣

Our amazing Pawsitive Hands Volunteer, Lori, has been taking some of our pups out to Humiston Woods on Saturdays! This clip is of Junior's first time out with Lori and his shelter mom, Kasi! He had a blast, and this was the perfect adventure for Junior, as he is a very active boy!
