When we love we heal.
This neuroscience-based article shows how love promotes health.
There are biological pathways by which love, bonding, positive emotions influence the stress axis (Hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal), immune function, nervous system regulation.

The understanding that we have an energetic component is as old as time. Many ancient healing modalities, like Classical Chinese Medicine (which are actually relatively young in the history of humanity), had an intimate understanding of this and worked not only with the physical, mental and emotional ststems but energy as well. Medical Qi Gong, for example, very much addresses biofields.
Then, our quest to better understand this physical world we live in and find better answers to problems whose solutions eluded us birthed the age of matierialism. The scientific method focused on physical phenomenon and many of the ancient modalities that once greatly benefited health and healing were relegated to the sidelines.
Now, we still have unanswered questions. While we are making progress, there are some things physical medicine will never be able to effective cure. And those things have to do with the spirit and energy of healing.
This is how phenomenon like Love can bring healing.
Why prayer can result in “miracles”, which are just effects we cannot explain with physical science.
While science has not yet caught up to practices in the field of biofield interventions, there has been some interest in researching these modalities to better help us understand efficacy and applications for specific conditions.
The tricky part, when attempting to assess these with our scientific method, is establishing controls and standardizations. All energy medicine is not created equal. And there can be inter-practitioner variables which affect outcomes.
Having said this, there are benefits. Many have experienced them and are living examples of the power of energy, love, and spirit in cooperation with appropriate physical medicine interventions.
I’m excited to witness our expansion into a greater acknowledgement of these ancient modalities and the growing curiosity in better understanding how incorporating these into patient care may add a whole new dimension to our health and healing.
