The Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub finished up their Spring 2023 training CGC Obedience Class with 4 teams of owners and dogs passing. We had 3 pass the CGC and 1 pass the CGCA.

In 2020 and 2021 members of the Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub saw racist and sexist posts of a very offensive nature appearing on Robin Martin’s FaceBook page. At the time we saw these inappropriate posts we brought them to the attention of the old URKA Executive Board and nothing was done about Rob’s racist and sexist posts. The Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub did not want to be associated with any form of racism or sexism and we turned in our 30 day notice to leave URKA as a club.

Several members of the Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub stayed as individual member of URKA in the hopes of voting in a new Executive Board that would not condone racist and sexist posts by the President of URKA. Now that the current Executive Board has expelled Robin Martin from membership in URKA the Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub has applied for club membership in URKA, and we look forward to hosting URKA events again like we did in the past.

Due to circumstances beyond our control the Rt. 66 Rottweiler Club has had to switch one of our judges. We are pleased to announce that FCI Rottweiler Judge Eduardo Díaz Andrés will be judging at our June 4th and 5th 2022 Spring Sieger Show with FCI Rottweiler Judge Frank Beiboer.

The Route 66 Rottweiler Club would like to announce we now have our 2nd judge for the June 4 & 5, 2022 Sieger Show!!!! FCI Judge, Mr. Frank Beiboer of the Netherlands who is a past President of theNetherlands Rottweiler Club and who will also be judging the IFR World Show in Italy in May 2022.

The Judge’s Dinner will be a Celebration of Life in honor of our friend and mentor Josef Hedl. It will be catered at the Hampton Inn in Pontiac IL Saturday night after the days judging is over. The time will be announced Saturday afternoon. We are limited to a total of 45 guests so please purchase you meal ASAP if you are wanting to attend. The price is $20 per person for the dinner. We will be opening the show soon on Zooza and we have some new Arte Perruno Trophies for this year’s show. In honor of Josef Hedl the Rt. 66 Rottweiler Klub will be sponsoring a new perpetual Trophy in honor of Joe for the Best of Breed at each of our shows.

I have had several calls and messages over the last few days asking if the Route 66 Rottweiler Club was having our fall 2021 show. As of today we are planning on having the fall show, The Josef Hedl Memorial Sieger Show on October 1, 2, & 3, 2021. However, we will not make a final announcement until after July 1, 2021 when the new travel guidelines are announced by the Federal Government.

The state of Illinois is opening up and hopefully Illinois will stay open and we will be able to get insurance which has been a problem for groups to get in Illinois during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Hopefully, our ADRK Judge, Anton “Toni” Spindler will be allowed to travel from Germany to the USA in October.

We will be having a Celebration of Life for Joe Saturday Night at the judge’s dinner.

The Route 66 Rottweiler Club will also be awarding a new perpetual trophy starting with our next show to honor Joe. The Josef Hedl Memorial Trophy given to the Best of Breed at each of our shows. Below is a picture of the trophy.

Although ARC holds just one national sieger show each year, ARC regionals may also be held. Save the date for this one coming up on Saturday, September 11, 2021, hosted by Medallion Rottweiler Club in Warrenville, IL. More details to come later.

We now have our 2nd judge, Pamela Crump Brown of Radio Ranch Rottweilers and we are hoping to have the show October 1, 2, & 3, 2021. However, plans are pending due to COVID 19.

The Route 66 Rottweiler Klub had planned to honor Joe Hedl for all he had done to promote Rottweiler and Sieger Style Shows in the United States at our 2020 Spring Sieger Show but with the COVID 19 Pandemic we had to cancel our Spring Sieger Show and reschedule it for the fall but we had to cancel that also. I had told Joe of our plans to honor him and he said that we didn’t need to do that but that he would be at our show to see all the Rottweilers entered. Still I told Joe that we were planning to honor him with a cool Rottweiler plaque and he needed to plan on going to the Judge’s Dinner.

Unfortunately Joe passed away February 14 and we won’t be able to give him his Rottweiler Plaque we had for him how ever we will give it to his daughter and son. However, we will still honor Joe by dedicating out next Sieger Show to him. Hopefully we will be able to have a Fall Sieger Show the end of September or the first of October which will be a Memorial Sieger Show for Joe. If the COVID 19 Pandemic stops us from having a Fall Sieger Show we will move our Memorial Sieger Show for Joe back to the Spring of 2022.

We have ADRK Judge and Körmeister Anton “Toni” Spindler lined up to judge when the COVID Pandemic is over enough to allow us to have a Sieger Show. We are working on getting another judge so that we can make the Josef Hedl Memorial Sieger Show a outstanding Sieger Show like Joe would have wanted it to be. Please watch this page or the Route 66 Rottweiler Klub page for updates on when the show will be.

Marylou Mäder will be the coordinator for the Celebration of Life for AKC & International Rottweiler Judge Josef Hedl that will be in combination with our judges dinner. Please send pictures of Joe to Marylou that you would like to have included in a Remembrance Wall for Joe. If you would like to share a story about Joe please let Marylou know so she can reserve you a spot to speak. More information will be coming in the next few months on the location of the Judge’s Dinner.

Hopefully we will be getting the Sieger Show scheduled and up on Zooza soon as Show Secretary Trainer Kathi Wilson will be continuing her training of Show Secretary Sarah Haley. Questions can be sent to Kathi or Sarah or myself as Show Chairman through Facebook at this time.
