The mission of the Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center is to protect public safety through the enforcement of applicable state laws, to educate the public about responsible pet ownership, and to provide a humane haven for animals in our care and, where possible, to endeavor to reunite pets with their owners and to promote responsible pet placement. The primary beneficiaries of these services will be the citizens and animals of Oakland County.

A Christmas wish for Sharon, to find a warm and loving home for Christmas. (3 years-old, 66 lbs)

Cute and squirmy Sharon is working very hard, each day, to learn all she needs to know to be a successful new friend!

Sharon is playful; she enjoys running and playing with toys!

Currently this bombshell is learning to master the art of leash walking, and making progress, daily!

Friendly Sharon responds well to treats, so further training, should be made a bit easier!

Sharon would appreciate an active owner, who is willing to spend time with her reassuring her that she is 'home' and loved!

Meet our sweet Sharon, she is still here waiting for her home. She is our longest resident at the shelter and will need lots of decompression aka boring time to adjust to a home. She could really use a foster.

She needs a home where her adopters can understand over stimulation, positive reinforcement training, and how meds work. We are happy to help with the process. She is currently on medications to make shelter life easier but with the help of a home, she could be slowly weaned off of them.

Sharon is our longest resident, and we are so sad, she's such an amazing dog. She is still learning on how to walk nicely on a leash. She is extremely food motivated and is easily distracted by food.

Sharon seems to be dog selective. She would be best in a low traffic household.

Meet Bianca
Time to highlight another hidden gem at the Oakland Shelter: Bianca, a long legged blond model type dog. She is gorgeous and a fine companion.

About 3 years old. 60-70 lbs.
She just "celebrated" her 1 year anniversary of living at the shelter. A whole year of a kennel. That is sad.

She did just get an overnight stay and she was a gem. Very respectable in the home, seems potty trained. Would sit every time she was leashed up (but wasn't asked to).

She was a bit overwhelmed, the pictures kind of show her wide eyes, but she relaxed the most in the woods and in the house. I believe it is just a matter of time for her to get used to all the noises of the world, having lived at the shelter for ONE YEAR!

She was one of the easiest walks. Did her best to hide and avoid the other dogs barking at her from their electric fenced yards (boo!).

Did super on the car ride (seemed like her first), and slept in the bed like a champ all night.

She was a stray from White Lake, her ears have slight damage on their tips, frostbite? Lived outside a lot? Who knows. Give this girl the life she deserves.

Have no idea how she is with babies and small children, that also depends on how responsible the parent is. She has met other dogs, but seems nervous of them, did briefly meet a cat, and was very curious.
