A little bit stronger every day! I can finally go a few hours without worrying I’m going to lose him 🫠. All meals are being eaten, water is being drank, litter box is being used, and toys are being pounced on!

We had an uneventful night and a great morning. He nibbled at some hard food for the first time. I’m debating on if I even brought home the same cat because he’s so different. No more constantly napping and never opening his eyes. He’s curiously walking around and exploring. The best part is all of the purring to let me know how happy he is 💕🥰😻.

He had a great night! No crashes. Eating and drinking on his own. Using the litter box. Amazing. If you saw him when I thought he was gone, you’d truly believe it’s nothing short of a miracle.

Doc did want to keep him a few more hours 🥺. She wants to slowly reduce his IV intake and make 100% sure that he will be able to sustain his glucose levels without a constant drip of dextrose. I can do sub q fluids (underneath the skin), but an actual IV in a vein is above my nursing level.

If the day goes as planned, I get to pick him up around 4pm 🥰.

Our boy has made such a turnaround! He has sat up, purred, and even played today! Every meal was eaten all by himself and I couldn’t be more proud!

He did crash one more time this afternoon so the vet and I decided it would be best if he stayed one more night with the emergency vet. I wanted to bring him home so badly but I was terrified he would crash on me and I wouldn’t be able to save him.

As long as all goes well tonight, he gets to come home first thing in the morning 💕.

HE ATE BREAKFAST! ALL BY HIMSELF!!

But his glucose levels did drop into the 20s again this morning. Good news though, doc thinks the cause is his severe malnourishment. She thinks once he is eating regularly and puts some weight on, then he won’t continue having these problems. I’m super thankful that it might not be something he has to battle for the rest of his of life.

We haven’t decided if he’ll get to come home tonight. She wants to see how he does until closing time and then decide if he needs to spend another night at the emergency vet. I really hope he gets to come home but I’m going to do whatever she recommends. I can’t bear the thought of losing him after making it this far.

He made it 🥹🥹🥹.

Thank you SO MUCH for helping me save him. Doc said he crashed around midnight and would have passed if he hadn’t been right by his side so staying at the emergency vet was definitely the right choice.

But we still don’t know why he’s crashing out. Normal glucose levels are between 80 and 120 - his keeps dropping into the 20s. I’m taking him back to the clinic so they can hopefully figure it out with further testing. They aren’t thinking it’s diabetes. Coccidia can cause this but he had a negative f***l. Another suggestion has been a thyroid issue. Maybe they’ll figure it out today and he’ll get to come home tonight 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼.

I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him this morning but I did get some cuddles in and he purred for me!

He’s still alive.

We have only been friends since Friday but it absolutely crushed my soul when I thought I was losing him. Pretty sure I made record timing getting to Tupelo. I didn’t go into much detail on my previous post but I truly didn’t think he was going to live long enough for me to get him to the clinic. He was so cold. The worst part is he has probably only ever known bad and cruelty. He didn’t have a home with a family who loved him. He was abandoned and left to die in a Walmart parking lot.

But that’s neither here nor there at this point. What matters is how he is right at this moment. And we still have no idea what’s wrong and causing him to crash out. Everything is normal other than his glucose level which is dangerously low. F***l was negative, FeLV/FIV test was negative, WBC was normal, RBC was normal. So right now we’re doing supportive care and hoping for the best.

This is one love nugget that I didn’t feel comfortable nursing at home. I can give sub q fluids but he desperately needed to be kept on an IV with dextrose and that’s a little out of my league. So instead of bringing him home and risking him crashing again, I opted to transfer him to the emergency clinic. They will be there all night to monitor him constantly and give him the very best chance at living. I know it’s going to be costly but I promise he’s worth it.

We have raised about $350 so far but his first vet trip cost $429 🥺🥺🥺.

I have to pick him up at 6:30am. Here’s to him fighting until then 🥂🥂🥂.

Well, folks. I wish I had better news but I don’t. He isn’t dead but he has crashed again and it isn’t looking good. Last I checked on him, he was grooming himself and relaxing on his bed. The next thing I know, he’s sprawled out in the floor and not moving. I scooped him up and could tell he had a low temp.

I’m currently sobbing in the vet clinic lobby waiting on an update. They had no idea of what’s wrong at initial diagnosis. His FeLV test came back negative so it isn’t that.

Keep my boy in your thoughts and send good vibes that he gets to come home with me.

Not bad for three days of work, even if I do say so myself 😏.

He still isn’t eating on his own and hasn’t pooped since the traumatic incident on Saturday. I’ll do during an emergency but I’m no vet. Going to get an actual professional opinion to ensure I’m doing absolutely everything that can be done and that I’m not missing anything. My biggest fear is he has FeLV - kitty leukemia. It hadn’t crossed my mind before because I assumed any issues were caused by the trauma but it kind of fits with his symptoms. So we’re going to find out shortly.

It really warms my heart knowing how many people are invested in this sweet boy’s outcome so I thought I’d do another quick update before bed.

He hasn’t drank anymore on his own and has yet to eat on his own but he ate a decent forced dinner for me. He won’t keep his eyes open? He CAN open them, he just doesn’t. And he’s super lethargic. I mean, he’s constantly so still that I’m poking him every few minutes to make sure he isn’t dead. So far, so good 🤷🏻‍♀️🫠. Not much improvement but he definitely isn’t any worse. Fingers crossed he continues to thrive and gets some energy soon.
