This little potato is Ben! Yin Ben to be exact! He’s one of Penelope’s lemon themed puppies and he’s 8 weeks old! His brother was adopted yesterday, which leaves him outnumbered by his sisters of the litter. He specifically asked us to make a plea for a family to adopt him before his sisters start dressing him up and painting his nails!

You KNOW you need this little snuggle-bug tucked right in with you at night! Get your application in today and rescue Ben from the girls.

Our friends at Mac’s Mission are 💯 right!! Please be aware! Fear causes dogs to act in ways they’ve never acted before, like escaping a fence you thought was safe. Plan ahead to keep your furry family safe.

IT IS STARTING. Lost dogs. 🎆💔 FIREWORKS AREN’T FUN FOR EVERYONE 💔🎆

Every year around the 4th of July, animal shelters and rescues brace for the worst night of the year. Just five minutes of scrolling and this is what we see.

While humans gather to celebrate, the world becomes a warzone for our pets, wildlife, and veterans with ptsd.

The sharp cracks, booms, and flashes of fireworks don’t sound like a party to them — they sound like danger.
Panic sets in. Dogs scale fences they’ve never tried to jump. Cats vanish into the night, their hearts pounding in terror. Animals break through windows, chew through doors, claw through crates — anything to escape the invisible threat.

The result? Thousands of pets go missing every single year.
Some are never found. Some are hit by cars, injured, or worse. Some wait in shelters, scared and alone, hoping their family will come.

This isn’t just about fear — it’s about survival.

If you have pets, please protect them:
🐾 Keep them indoors during fireworks.
🐾 Turn on calming music or white noise.
🐾 Close windows and curtains.
🐾 Stay home if you can — your presence is their peace.
🐾 Make sure they’re wearing a collar with ID tags.
🐾 Make sure they have a leash on if you take them potty.
🐾 Medicate them with veterinary guidance.
🐾 Keep them home!
🐾 Ensure their microchip info is up to date.

And please… if you know someone planning backyard fireworks, ask them to think twice. Fireworks don’t just light up the sky — they shatter the sense of safety for our most vulnerable companions.

We wish this July 4th could be a celebration for everyone, not a nightmare for those who can’t understand what’s happening.

WHAT DO YOU DO THAT HELPS YOUR SCARED DOG???

Hearts for Rescue community - we need your help!

Remember our Valentine who was hit by a car and found injured in the ditch back in February ? She’s doing great, but she’s lost her foster home and needs a soft place to land. We have absolutely zero foster spots open and tonight she has to go to paid boarding. We just don’t have the funds to cover boarding. Please help us raise some funds for our expenses like this unexpected boarding and for vet bills. She will need to be scheduled for her spay now that she’s much more healthy.

P.S. If you are interested in helping foster Valentine or other rescue dogs in our care - please go to our website and complete an application.

Hey… let’s talk about Bruno!!

Bruno is a loving and well behaved fellow. He does great with other dogs and is good with cats too. He’s been patiently waiting for a family to call his own (doesn’t even have to have the surname of Madrigal! 🤣)

If you have considered adding a furry family member, won’t you give Bruno a chance to show you what a good boy is like?? He will even bring his movie and funko pop along to his new home.

PUPDATE!!

First picture was when we got her. Look at sweet Valentine today! She has healed from her first surgery- hip surgery. The damaged foot on the other back leg just could not heal well, so amputation was the best choice for her quality of life. She has done so very well since the amputation. She is the absolute sweetest girl! She needs to heal a bit longer before she can have her spay surgery, but she will be looking for a forever family of her own!

Please share Valentine and help us find the perfect family for this fabulous girl.
