‘Tis the season for snake brumation! What is that, you may ask? Like bears and other hibernating species, some snake species like colubrids need to take a winter nap in order to produce healthy young and most importantly, to stay healthy themselves. Crazy breeders like us spend many, many hours replicating the conditions needed to make this happen. It’s expensive and very scientific, but the end result is healthy offspring in the late spring for our western hognose, king snake, and milk snake species. And, this year’s production is going to be the biggest yet, so…STAY TUNED!
