June is here and it is Megaesophagus Awareness Month. Before I tell you about what Megaesophagus is, I'd like you to meet Piper. Piper was our Black Lab. A few years ago, after having issues keeping food down, we brought her to the Vet. This is when she was diagnosed with Megaesophagus (ME). ME is a very serious condition that occurs in Dogs and Cats as well. Unfortunately, last year we lost our sweet Piper to this disease. The simplest description I can give for ME would be that the pet's Esophagus stops working properly and prevents food from ever reaching the stomach. If not properly treated, it can be deadly. Please follow us during the month of June, while we teach you about ME and how YOU can help!

Now hiring a Part Time Dog Bather/Grooming Apprentice
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week

*Do you like being covered in dog hair?
*Do you like going home after being covered in water and soap freshly shaken off?
*Do you enjoy dog f***s, a**l glands and p*e? Cleaning it? Wearing it?
*Do you want to explain to people you meet about how you got random bruises and scratches?
*Have you ever wondered what a hair splinter feels like?
*Do you enjoy calling potential employers back? Scheduling an interview and actually showing up for that scheduled interview?

Then this job is for you!! Honestly, these things can and do happen, sometimes often. This may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I will say this is not a glamorous job. If you enjoy making Dogs look and smell their best, then this might just be the right job for you! See below for the more serious details . . .

We are looking for someone who has prior bathing experience of at least 1-2 years, preferably, but are willing to train a motivated individual. You must love animals and the pet parents. Knowledge of all breed standards styles is a plus. Bathers must be compassionate and well mannered at all times. Bathers have to believe in the Bathing process to keep all pets healthy, and inform pet parents/Groomer of any findings during the Bath. Bathers should have and use Excellent communication skills and a strong dedication to outstanding client services. Our Bathers must have the physical strength , mobility & stamina to lift or move heavy pets or objects from time to time. Bathers must have the complete confidence to work with all kinds of pets in any situation. Ability to calmly handle and bathe pets that may be scared, aggressive, or even the ones who just do not wanna be bathed. Current customer base welcomed if currently active.

Other tasks include:
-Answering phones
-Calling customers
-General cleaning such as mopping, sweeping, windows, dusting, etc.
-Assisting co-workers restrain a pet while they are being groomed.
-Lifting/Assisting Large Dogs onto Tables and into Tubs.
-Being on your Feet for extended periods of time without rest.
-Any other reasonable task that may be required of you throughout the day.

If Pet Grooming is a career you are interested in, we would love to help you achieve that goal. As you master the Bather position, we are willing to offer a paid apprenticeship to become a Groomer.
