Today is ! Once numbering in the tens of millions, American Bison were pushed near extinction by overharvesting in the late 19th century. While conservation actions have brought these American icons back from the brink, they are still threatened by habitat loss and genetic bottlenecks.
We're celebrating this special occasion by donating one dollar for every guest who visits the Park today to the National Wildlife Federation's Bison recovery efforts!
