Rolling Hills Ranch Rolling Hills Ranch is a full service equestrian center that specializes in boarding, riding lessons, summer camps, and more. Before and After care available.

Rolling Hills Ranch is located in Port Deposit, MD. Here, you can learn to have fun with horses and ponies and experience a fellowship with others who have the same interests in a safe, friendly environment. We offer riding lessons year round, taught by a Level 3 Centered Riding and Parelli Natural Horsemanship certified instructor. Our facilities include: both an all-weather indoor and outdoor ri

ding arena, dressage ring, and a heated pine tack room. We won't let the weather keep us out of the saddle! Full-care and field board
Twice daily feeding/watering and turnout. All of our horses are fed high quality grain, hay and nutritional supplements. Activities available include:
Trail Rides with direct access to over 70 acres of trails
No trailer required! Mount up and enjoy a day on our beautiful network of cleared trails. Horse Shows/ Eventing
Rolling Hills Ranch hosts shows throughout the year in addition to participating in many local shows in the area. Birthday Parties
Could there be a better place for the horse lover to celebrate their birthday--we don't think so! Summer Camp Program, with Riding Lessons, Basic Horsemanship Skills,
Nature Hikes and Creek visits, Bible Adventure, and Crafts. Also provides
introduction to volunteer opportunities. We also offer a week of advanced camp where riders must be able to walk, trot, and canter, with an emphasis on dressage, cross county & jumping.

Esther and I had a pretty successful season competing this year. We went from NJ to NC competing in recognized competitions as well as numerous schooling shows. I have to admit that three weeks ago was pretty discouraging when
I asked Esther to canter and all she would do was a faster trot. I asked to come ride her. She suggested I get her hocks done.
Dr. Dave Sorum happened to be there to shock wave a pony so he was able to do Esther’s hocks. Generally I ride Esther five times a week but between the hocks being done and life getting in the way I did not ride her until this past Tuesday which gave her a solid two weeks off.
Tuesday she was very grumpy again complaining about cantering (I had checked her back before I tacked her up and it seemed fine. I had also lunged her and she looked good) so I told myself “suck it up butter cup and wack her.
I knew she was going to buck but I waved her anyway. We had a couple of temper tantrums when I asked for departs but she went. Wednesdays there were a few more bucking complaints but then her canter departs got better. Thursday she was really good and today she was a superstar. Thank you Ellie for all of your encouragement. You are a super horsewoman.

Phoebe Devoe was doing lessons at RHR today.
Eliza Herman, Renee Dixon, Staci Jendrek and Lisa George participated. Lessons with Phoebe are always enjoyable as well as informative and very often a lot of work. However anything worth having is worth working for. Let me know if any of you in Facebook land are interested in monthly lessons with Phoebe.

Our last jumper show of the year was Friday, September 20. Everyone had a great time. Camille Kierstead joined us with one of her students as well as a few other participants from off the farm. Camille said she looks forward to bringing more students next year. Remember everyone the Year End Awards are at the ranch Christmas party Sunday, December 1, 2024. Right after Christmas with the Ponies.

Esther and Renee doing First Level 2 next to the Horse Eating Tent. She was so scared our free walk which is usually a 7 or an 8 became a 5. The wind blew, the tent moved and Esther got very big like a stallion. I laughed through the entire test. What’s a girl to do. When we left the arena two people told me what a great job we did and how nice it was to see me smile through the entire test. Katherine Intano Caitlin Parkes
