Dr. Roberts is now certified in the Human Animal Bond.
Did you know that oxytocin rises in BOTH animals and humans when we interact? We are as good for our pets as they are for us 🥰
Every appointment is a testimony to this incredible bond we share.

Please note-extended travel charges apply, however some areas don’t have another vet available for in home euthanasia, so I’m grateful to be able to provide this service to those who truly wish to have it.

Please allow time for scheduling since I’m truly all over and cannot guarantee same day appointments.

Thank you ♥️ to all my previous clients for allowing me to continue this work.

(Received from a repeat client today-remember the kitty with the ‘last confirmed kill’? This is the same home. Sadly he didn’t get a full year for this little ginger rescue, but he was definitely well loved 🧡)

Dear Dr Roberts.... This is Jack Benny and Rochester. ( If you know, you'll get it.!) They were the last two in the litter. I just couldn't leave one behind . Jack Benny was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis. ( F.I.P.)No cure or treatment. I and my family have had cats all our lives. Never heard of it. Dr. Roberts is the nicest lady... Thank you

A beautiful tribute to all the animals we’ve all loved and lost ♥️

My Dear Human,

I see that you are crying, for it is my moment to leave. Don't cry, please. I want to explain some things to you.

You're sad because I left, but I'm glad I met you.

How many dogs and cats and birds like me die daily without meeting someone special like you?

I know it saddens you my departure, but I had to go now.

I want to ask you not to blame yourself for anything. I heard you sobbing that you should have done something else for me. Don't say that, you've done a lot for me! Without you I would have known nothing of the beauty I carry with me today.

You must know that we animals live the present intensely and we are very wise: we enjoy every little thing every day, and forget the bad past quickly.

Our lives begin when we know love, the same love you gave me, my angel without wings and two legs.

Know that even if you find an animal that is seriously injured, and that you only have a little bit of time in this world, you provide a huge service by accompanying you in your final transition.

None of us likes to be alone, except when we realize it's time to leave.

Maybe for you it's not so important that one of you is next to us caressing us and holding our paw, helps us go in peace.

No more crying, please. I'll be happy. I have in memory the name you gave me, the warmth of your house that in this time became mine. I take the sound of your voice talking to me, even though I don't always understand what you were saying to me.

I carry in my heart every caress you gave me.

Everything you did was very valuable to me and I thank you endlessly, I don't know how to tell you, because I don't speak your language, but surely in my eyes you could see my gratitude.

I'm just gonna ask for two favors. Wash your face and start smiling.

Remember how good we live together these moments, remember the antics I made to cheer you up.

Relive like me all the good we share in this time.

And do not say you will not adopt another animal, because you have suffered a lot from my departure. Without you I would not live the beauties I lived.

Please don't do this! There are many like me waiting for someone like you.

Give them what you gave me, please, they need it just like I needed you.

Don't keep the love you have to give, for fear of suffering.

Follow my advice, cherish the good you share with each of us, recognizing that you are an angel to us animals, and that without people like you our life would be harder than sometimes it is.

Follow your noble task, now it's up to me to be your angel.
I will accompany you in your path and help you help others like me.

I will talk to other animals who are here with me, I will tell you everything you have done for me and I will point and say proudly: “that's my family.”

Tonight, when you look at the sky and see a blinking star I want you to know that it's me flashing an eye; warning you that I arrived well and telling you "thank you for the love you gave me".

I say goodbye now not saying "goodbye", but "see you later.”

There is a special sky for people like you, the sky where we go and life rewards us by making us meet there.

I'll be waiting for you!"

This subject is misunderstood by many. Sharing to educate as well as comfort those who’ve been through this. It’s heartbreaking, but sometimes truly necessary.

For those who are struggling with this decision, past or present, there is a wonderfully supportive Facebook support group called Losing Lulu you can join if you’d appreciate the help.

. Some of the most difficult experiences that we have endured have been the loss of each of our pets. They are our companions and family members. That final trip to the vet's office is always heart-wrenching, and it can be stressful and scary for the pet.

Dr. Jeanette Roberts helps make this transition as peaceful and comfortable as possible for you and your companion in your own home. She is a good friend of ours. We wish we had known her during those difficult moments in our past, so we wanted to share this with those of you that include furry companions in your family.

Hopefully, you have many years left to share with the pets you love so much. When the time comes, perhaps Jeanette's services will help ease your burden. Please share this with friends or family nearing one of these difficult decisions.

Love & Light,
AWEN

A handful of clients have done this and it seems to be a great comfort.
With all the emotions and decisions often faced at the end of our pets lives, it’s not something most will think about.

Good morning!

I’ve been getting several calls to my personal phone line or referrals to my personal Facebook account to send clients my way. To send your friends and family my way, please give out my work number:
810-375-3545 (texting is the most efficient)
This is the fastest and most efficient way for people to reach me and get the information they will need.

Most of the day I’m driving or in appointments, so it’s really difficult to communicate through other channels, and I need to have all client information in one place.
Texting the patients weight and the appointment location to 810-375-3545 allows me to get all initial information to the client in between other obligations. If they cannot text, leaving the weight and location in a voicemail is okay, so I can respond with pertinent information rather than playing phone tag.

Thank you in advance-it’s a good problem to have and I really appreciate all the referrals 🫶🏼♥️

I have these discussions with clients at most appointments and I believe most people are at peace with their decision. The hardest time is often leading up to that appointment, and could last for months, or years sometimes. Maybe this article will help one of you in that stage to know you’re not alone, and all feelings are valid.
♥️

As a veterinarian, I counseled many people through the end of a beloved pet’s life. But when my cat got sick, it started a whole new journey.

"He's not your kid."
As I tuck him in every night.

"He's not your kid."
As I make my breakfast, I scramble him up some eggies and make sure he gets the most important meal of the day.

"He's not your kid."
As I do my laundry, I make sure his blankets/jackets and bedding (he still sleeps with us every night in OUR bed) are also clean.

"He's not your kid."
As I nursed him back to his optimal health the first few months I had him.

"He's not your kid."
As I just changed my entire career and life so I could be home with him more during the days and save for our future because I was sick of seeing him so sad on the furbo.

"He's not your kid."
As I hang his coat/blanket (one of many) on the coat hanger next to ours.

"He's not your kid."
As I pick up all his toys and place them back on his bed for him to through them everywhere as soon as he wakes up from his nap.

"He's not your kid."
As I take him out yet again to play and run in the snow while my fingers are numb but he's only a puppy for so long.

"He's not your kid."
Yea, he's not my kid.
He's my heart. My world. My baby.
And for those who can't see the similarities between a puppy and a child and for those who really think a dog is really "just a dog," you must never have found your heart dog and I pray one day, you do.🐾💜

: “In the Lakota/Sioux tradition, a person who is grieving is considered most waken, most holy.
There's a sense that when someone is struck by the sudden lightning of loss, he or she stands on the threshold of the spirit world. The prayers of those who grieve are considered especially strong, and it is proper to ask them for their help.
You might recall what it's like to be with someone who has grieved deeply. The person has no layer of protection, nothing left to defend. The mystery is looking out through that person's eyes. For the time being, he or she has accepted the reality of loss and has stopped clinging to the past or grasping at the future. In the groundless openness of sorrow, there is a wholeness of presence and a deep natural wisdom.”

Hello friends!

I hope all is well with you and your families. I am truly honored to be able to perform the work I do, and to have your support.

If I have helped you through a euthanasia, and you would like to share your story with others, here is an opportunity to do so!

Euthanasia is something many people have no experience with. Here, you can share your memories with others that may find comfort in your experience. Many people have fear, anxiety and dread leading up to the loss of their pet. You may have felt this or something similar. Some have peace and feel relief upon letting go. Everyone's experience is different, but all are full of love and so many memories with their beloved pet.

Sharing your story may help someone approaching the end of life with their own pet. Death is a difficult part of life to discuss, and face, for a lot of my clients. Some have no family or friends that understand the pain they are dealing with.

Sharing your pet with our community is also a sweet way to honor the bond you shared.
"The love that a human can share with an animal is the very best thing that exists in the world and the very best thing about humanity." -Noel Fitzpatrick

If you would like to share, your post will appear on RVS's public page. Please send photos and written material to:

[email protected]

You may choose as little or as much content as feels right to you-
Ideas of what to include:

~Photos of your pet with or without you; doing some of their favorite things, or lounging around (usually the easiest time to capture them!)

~Description of your pet, their personality, their favorite snacks, their naughty behavior or did you have a perfect angel.

~Stories about their life that are unique to them- a special trip, their favorite walking spot, that time they went on a road trip alone across 2 highways without a scratch, or the time you almost lost them but instead were blessed with some extra time with them instead.

~Your process leading up to the euthanasia. Did you know you wanted to stay home all along, or find out about the service and enter into it without much knowledge? Was it your first Euthanasia?

~Your feelings as you approached end of life with them. Was there anything that helped you decide it was time? Did you have support or did you face things alone? Was the decision made for you, did you have to make it yourself or with help?

~How did you feel during the procedure? Did you have other pets present? How did they respond? Did you have other friends or family present or were you alone?

~What helped you heal? How are you doing now? How do you honor the memory of your pet? You can include photos of a special memorial or celebration if you have one.

"All these people turned up with their dogs... it was amazing."

Animal lovers have rallied round to join a dog owner on her last walk with her Border Collie.

Sarah Keith had to say goodbye to her 12-year-old dog, Ella, after she was diagnosed with cancer.

So, they arranged to "go out with a bang" with one final trip to Ella's favourite beach in Fraisthorpe, near Bridlington.
