FORT GRATIOT CANINE COMMONS DOG PARK ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to severe storms last night, the large dog side of the park is closed until further notice. We had a tree fall on the fence so the large dog park is not secure or safe for dogs at this time. Our grounds crew will be working to fix the issue but as of right now we have no estimated time of when the large dog side will be reopened.
The small dog side of the park is open but there is a lot of debris. Our grounds are working to clean that up. If you have a small dog and will be using that side of the park please use with caution.

This past weekend, Fort Gratiot Canine Commons, was lucky enough to have Zac Sayers build some additions to our dog park for his Eagle Scout project. A big thank you to Zac! The pups are already enjoying the new stuff.

**Please remember that the park and these new additions are for the pups and not for kids or adults to play/climb on

Fort Gratiot Canine Commons

Opened in 2016, the two acre dog park features two fenced commons; the left/west common for medium to large dogs, and the right/east common for small to medium dogs. There is no charge to visit the park, but there are a few rules to follow.

Dog waste bags, trash receptacles and port-a-johns are available but we do not have a water source yet, so please remember to bring water for your furry friend!

The park is open year round from dawn to dusk. On occasion we temporarily close the park for maintenance. We generally schedule these on weekday mornings, only close one common at a time, and post notices at the park and our website and page. 2015-Fort Gratiot won $25,000 from PetSafe to build a dog park! Thanks for barking! Fort Gratiot was 1 of 16 finalists nationwide in a contest that saw over 1,000 communities nominated in the PetSafe Bark For Your Park competition, and is the ONLY community in Michigan. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, and the citizen group Friends of the Fort Gratiot Dog Park, we won $25,000 to go toward the construction of the park. We also received a grant from the St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission to go toward fencing.
