6 Week Retrievers

Finn-Gunfire Drills
This 5 month old pup, Finn, showing off his marking/gunfire drills at 50-60 yards. He has an amazing on/off switch and plays very well with dogs off all ages and with our two kids.
He is not gun shy and will retrieve all day long with birds and bumpers on land.
We have also been working the last couple weeks on water retrieves, and that is the hang up. Right now Finn doesn’t want anything to do with the water.
We will continue with water drills in the weeks to come, but right now i think he would make a great dove field dog. Because of this, if he does not pick up the water through his training and become a multie use dog. We are willing to sale him as a dove dog for a discounted price, from what our Started Dogs normally cost.

Started Dog Training

“Find It” Drill 12 week old pups

These feisty little 12 week old pups are up for anything. Whether it’s afternoon playtime, or bumpers in tall grass with gunfire.
All 3 of these pups show great promise of becoming trained hunting dogs. They have no quit in them when it comes to retrieving, and also have good on/off switches.

Gunfire with Pups
Introducing these 9 week old pups to gunfire today. This is a huge step for such a young pup, and they don’t care at all about it.
Probably the most important drill in a young hunting dog’s program. We will continue to shoot and retrieve with these pups for several weeks, and adding tall grass and water into the drills.

AKC Lab Pups Begin Training
These tiny, 9 week old male pups are feisty with a bumper. We’ll continue to play small retrieving games and drills with them in the weeks to come.

Client Training
Building a bond is important, especially through training. We invite all our clients out as much as they can to be apart of every training drill.
This helps the bond form with dog and client, as well as giving the client the confidence to handle their dog. We cover all aspects of traing with the client, but non is more important than having the foundation of basic obedience.

Tink-1st hunt
7 months old, on the last stage of her Started Dog program, Tink is getting some field time. This is her first hunt, and after a bird or two she is locked in.
She has not completed her force fetch training. This training will not allow her to drop birds upon returning from a retrieve.

My son, Mattson at 7 years old, and Goose at 6.5 months had their first bird hunt today.
Goose did great for his debut in the field. He sat patiently waiting for Mattson to knock down his first one, then I joined in and got Goose a few reps.
Proud to see on cripple birds that he wasn’t shy about them, and with the soft mouth, a couple times they managed to get away from him, but he reacted quickly to pick them back up. Next month when his Force Fetch training starts, he will fine tune his ability to handle birds.
Goose is available as a Started Dog, and will be ready to hunt by the second half of duck season. Give us a call for more info on making Goose your new hunting buddy.
