This event is all about:
✅ Off-Leash Obedience

🐕 We’ll train in a warehouse setting, where dogs will navigate obstacles and distractions, practice working out of sight from their handler, and build confidence while learning to find you in unique scenarios.

📢 Important Note:
This session requires your dog to have some foundational obedience training and the ability to focus in a controlled group environment. I’ll review all registrations and confirm whether your dog is a good fit for this specialized training.

Why Use a Long Leash in Dog Training?

Training your dog to come when called, walk calmly by your side, and master key positions like “heel” is much easier with the right tools. A long leash is a great addition to your training toolkit, and here’s why:

1️⃣ Recall Training: A long leash gives you control while allowing your dog to practice coming back to you in more realistic settings. It builds their confidence in responding to the recall command, even with distractions around!

🐾 Do You Know Your Dog’s Threshold? 🐾

Here’s the scoop: A dog’s threshold is the tipping point between calm focus and total chaos. It’s the difference between your dog walking nicely beside you or barking, lunging, and losing control. 😵

👉 Why It Matters:
When your dog is under their threshold, they can think, learn, and respond. When they’re over it? Forget it. Their emotions take over, and training goes out the window.

📊 Signs Your Dog Is Over Their Threshold:
• Heavy panting or drooling (even when it’s not hot).
• Completely ignoring commands they usually ace.
• Barking, growling, or pulling on the leash.
• Laser-focused on a trigger (dog, person, squirrel, etc.).

Tips to Keep Your Dog Under Threshold:
1️⃣ Create Space: Step back or move further from the trigger.
2️⃣ Offer High-Value Rewards: Keep their focus on you with treats they love.

🌈🐾 Rest in Peace, Sweet Poppy 🐾🌈

Poppy was truly one of a kind. She spent a year at Southeast Volusia Humane Society waiting for her perfect match, and when a wonderful human finally took her in, her life completely changed. She was given the love and care she deserved, and she thrived in her new home.

When I first met Poppy, she was a feisty little pistol, full of spirit despite her age—barking, lunging, and causing a little chaos around other dogs. But with time and patience, we worked through it all together. I had the privilege of teaching her how to ride a golf cart properly, swim in the pool, and even relax and enjoy floating on the water. She embraced every challenge with her unique charm and personality.

Poppy was such a good girl, and she brought so much joy to everyone who knew her. I’m grateful I got to be part of her journey and help make her golden years so special.

Rest easy, sweet girl. You’ll always have a special place in my heart. 🐾❤️

Ever wonder why your dog’s nose is so powerful?

Those little slits on the sides of their nose? They’re not just for show—they’re the secret behind your dog’s super sniffing abilities!

Here’s how it works:
When dogs exhale, air escapes through those side slits, keeping the scent they’re sniffing completely undisturbed.

This means they can focus on tracking smells without “sniffing their own breath” like we would. Pretty genius, right?

But wait, there’s more! Those slits also create a swirling airflow, pulling even more scent particles into their nostrils. Combine that with their ability to sniff continuously for up to 40 seconds, and it’s no wonder dogs can detect even the faintest scent trails.

And here’s the coolest part: Dogs can smell independently with each nostril! That’s how they know exactly where a scent is coming from—like a built-in GPS for smells.
