When I began adopting and caring for elderly horses and minis with health issues I knew the inherent risks that came with caring for them. Whether that be the extensive care, medical bills, gentle retraining or the eventual need to have to say goodbye. But it still does not soften the blow.

It is with tremendous sadness to share that we had to say goodbye yet again to another beloved member of our equine family on Christmas Day…Buddy Love❤️🐴

Buddy our mini donkey came to us when we bought Creekside Meadow Farms 4yrs ago. We adopted him and he instantly became part of the family. Buddy lived in a small igloo in a pasture/paddock where he rarely if ever left. His age was unknown…but we knew he was at least 20 if not older. His care and handling was minimal at most and he was feisty, even aggressive at times and it was our goal to earn his trust and eventually his love.

We made it our mission to take him on adventures, show him his own property and explore places he had never seen before. We quickly learned how much he enjoyed our company, going on nature walks, eating in the fern forest, running free in the arena, visiting with his new equine friends, playing with our dog Lilly, spending time being groomed and just being loved.

We built him his own fabulous barn where he could live safely out of the abrasive weather with his best friend Liza another fellow mini that we took in not soon after adopting him.

The loss of Buddy is one we all feel greatly as he was the mascot of CMF and his memory will live on forever. I have included many pictures and videos to honor his memory and show what an impact he had on our lives. He will truly be missed. 💖

We would like to Welcome Nellie and her lovely owner Cindy Lowney who have joined the CMF family all the way from Northern CA!!

They have made it through the last few weeks of crazy winter weather and are settling in to the PNW.

Nellie seems to be finding her place among the herd. We look forward to seeing her continued growth over the coming months.

Wishing Maximus a very Happy 28th Birthday!! We might be a month late but better late than never!!!

It has been such an honor to be in stewardship of his care over these last 10 plus years. Maximus has exceeded everyone’s expectations of not only his resilience to what everyone thought he would become but to who he is as a horse and in spirit!

Maximus is kind, gentle and shows us how your past does not define what your future will hold for us. You can have a dark past and you can rise from the ashes.

Thank you for continuing to always be the beacon of light.

Happy Birthday Maximus!!
