Why can’t veterinarians take back your unused or expired medication’s?

Veterinarians have to have state or federal authorization to collect pharmaceuticals for disposal. If it’s controlled or it’s left your building, it’s against the law for us to take it back. You need to contact the FDA or their local pharmacy. Some communities have a medication takeback program.
