Performance & Recovery

Performance - Studies have shown that horses that receive massage have an increased stride length compared to horses that do not receive massage.
For those who compete in speed events where every second and stride counts, this can be a great advantage for you and your equine partner!

Recovery - It has been shown that for horses that receive a therapeutic modality (including massage and chiropractic) have a decreased pain response compared to horses that receive no therapy. These horses had less than 1% difference over a 7 day whereas horses receiving massage or chiropractic saw an immediate reduction of pain on day 1 (and only increased by day 7).

Having happy and healthy horses is the main goal of all horse owners. Massage can provide valuable benefits to your equine partner. Working with a knowledgeable equine massage therapist can help you to understand your horses specific needs for conditioning, recovery, and everywhere in between!

Want to help prevent injuries in your horse???
Consider Equine Massage!

Equine Massage can help your horse perform and feel their best in any competition or while on turn out!
Tightness can cause compensation which can increase the chances of your horse experiencing an injury.

Injuries can cause a lot of down time for your horse which will lead to more compensation and tightness in other areas.

It is always best to try and prevent injuries!

When getting ready to ride always
- assess your horse on the ground for any signs of injury (lameness, cuts, swelling)
- thoroughly warm up your horse at a walk
- thoroughly cool down your horse after riding
- if something seems off with your horse’s behavior (sudden bucking, rearing, lameness, etc) call your vet!

🚨What Can One Session Do for Your Horse?🚨

Whether your horse is a top-level athlete or an admired pasture resident, they can greatly benefit from equine massage.

Many issues relating to movement and behavioral issues can be the result of muscle tightness and pain within your horse.

This mare had a break from massage services for a period of time and I came back to majority of her previous muscles issues being present.
- Why? Just like in humans, when we are dealing with issues relating to pain or dysfunction we compensate. This mare has a clubbed hoof (front right), aside from muscular compensation she experiences no soundness issues. Through compensating for the hoof, she puts a lot more strain on her hind end leading to issues such as an ilium flare, hip hike/hip drop (seen in before image), and mild pelvic rotation.

After just 1 full-body session you wouldn’t even know she was struggling with those issues. She was moving amazing in turn-out and playing with her pasture mates with no limitations!
