Hey all! ‼️🦎🚨
Bearded Dragon just surrendered! He will be available for adoption officially on 11/23

Bearded dragons make wonderful pets because they’re easy to care for and they are sociable creatures! Taking care of a pet bearded dragon involves several key steps:

1. Habitat Setup: Provide a spacious terrarium (at least 40 gallons) with a secure lid. Use a substrate like reptile carpet or paper towels. Include hiding spots, climbing branches, and a basking area with a heat lamp to create a temperature gradient (basking area around 95-110°F and cooler area around 75-85°F).

2. Lighting: Use UVB lighting to help your bearded dragon synthesize vitamin D3, which is essential for calcium absorption. Replace the bulb every 6-12 months.

3. Diet: Offer a balanced diet of live insects (crickets, mealworms) and fresh vegetables (collard greens, bell peppers). Avoid feeding too many high-fat insects and ensure any live food is appropriately sized.

4. Hydration: Provide fresh water daily in a shallow dish. Occasionally mist the enclosure to maintain humidity, but avoid over-saturation.

5. Handling: Be gentle and patient when handling your bearded dragon. Allow it to acclimate to your presence and handle it regularly to build trust.

6. Health Monitoring: Watch for signs of illness, such as changes in appetite, lethargy, or abnormal behaviors. Consult a veterinarian experienced with reptiles if you notice any health issues.

7. Clean Environment: Regularly clean the habitat by removing waste and uneaten food, and perform a deeper clean with appropriate disinfectants as needed.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure your bearded dragon stays healthy and happy.
