Meet Drake, a brave little 13lb poodle who found himself in a tricky situation after swallowing a 5x5 microfiber cloth! After weeks of waiting and hoping it would pass, it finally caused some serious trouble. Thankfully, our incredible team was able to resolve the issue without surgery—just skilled care and a little creative problem-solving!

"I'm Emilie, and I'm joining the VCA team part-time, my full time role is as a VA at Denney Vet in Vicksburg. I am a recent graduate of Michigan State where I studied Zoology (go green!). A little about me: I can NOT sit still! I love cheesecake and pasta! My last meal would be an omelet smothered in hot sauce, hash browns, buffalo chicken dip, a fat bowl of spaghetti, and chocolate milk. I love to read, mostly non-fiction and memoirs and am always on the lookout for book recommendations. A goal of mine is to be an official library (owning 1,000+ books). On my free time I like to weight lift, read, and I really want to learn how to crochet. Some fun facts: I like archery, snowboarding, and competitive swimming. I'm currently in my second semester of American Sign Language and loving it! I plan to continue until I earn a certification where I am eligible to serve as a translator. I am open water scuba certified as of 2024. I am currently working on my application for vet school, too! I had a chocolate lab growing up and my sister has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi."

Dr. Katie Strong earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science Production Medicine Scholars and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. With nearly a decade of experience in emergency medicine and surgery, Dr. Strong has developed a wealth of knowledge while practicing in the Southwestern Michigan community.

A native of Michigan, Dr. Strong enjoys spending time with her husband and twin boys. Outside of work, she loves the outdoors, riding her Peloton, and attending classic car shows. She shares her home with two dogs, two ponies, and aquarium fish. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery and critical care. Dr. Strong is passionate about the collaborative nature of emergency medicine and enjoys mentoring newer colleagues in the field. She has a special empathy for pet owners navigating difficult times and is dedicated to offering compassionate care and support during those challenging moments.
